I just want to hide under a rock and burn my dress!
I have a confession. Although I loved my wedding, I am still a bit upset about the Dj being almost 2 hrs late. Yeah the hall served dinner to buy time but I got to meet and greet my guests on a more personal level. BUT I am concerned of how the video will look and I must add that the fill in DJ didnt have our personalized CD so we danced to a song that was not our own, same for the parents.
Well this has been bothering me so much that I have a permanent ache in my stomach when people bring up the wedding. YEAh the disaster was avoided of not having a DJ at all and by all accounts we had a beautiful day/night but it just was not exactly as I had it planned.
And it doesnt help that one of my so called friends had the most perfect wedding and all these comments about her being smug that all didnt go as planned. (the video shows her face and attitude ..plus comments from other guests) Then there is me feel ing I looked atrotiously chubby in my dress....
I know I should be happy but this is bothering me so much privately. DH doesnt know. He thinks that our day was bliss.

I am sorry that you feell this way but honestly...there is nothing you can do to change it!! What you need to do is focus on the highlights of the day. I am sure that you looked BEAUTIFUL in your dress!! Dont let one thing ruin your beautiful memories of the day for the rest of your life.
You will look back at this on your 25th anniversary and laugh!!

Re: I just want to hide under a rock and burn my dress!
I feel the same way whenever I think about the bridesmaid from hell that I had. (I didn't go into great detail about the night BEFORE my wedding, which was completely ruined with HOURS worth of fighting with my DH cousins) As a result, I never got to work on the 'must play list' for the band, and one of my FAVORITE songs wasn't played. I also didn't get to write up a 'must take' list for the photographer. When DH and I were talking about the photos that we remember taking, neither of us can recall taking photos with our guests who flew in from Italy- his aunts and uncles, etc...
It ABSOLUTELY INFURIATES me- everything that these girls did. And, just last week, one of them sent me a nasty email, calling me a liar and asking what they did to deserve all of MY NONSENSE! (the raw footage of my video shows that the nasty cousin never altered her gown. She is seen ON VIDEO cutting the bottom of her gown with a scissor and pinning the top!)
Also, the one who sent the email is seen sitting on her A$$ during the cake cutting.
There were so many horrible things that these girls did to ruin my wedding. So many things get messed up because of them.
But, you know what: EVERYONE is STILL raving about what a perfect day my wedding was!!!
(and, you look completely fabulous in your dress. But, I can understand how you feel because I think that my face looks fat in my raw footage. Everytime I laughed, I had a big fat double chin. My DH thinks I'm crazy)

I am sooooooooo sorry to hear that your day didnt go as planned either. BUt I did read some good advice that we both should take...I'll try lol..
Most marrigages that start with adversity make for great story telling years after the cake is gone. Meaning you and DH would be married for long years to come.

Believe me I know how you feel. I have so many regrets about my day. My selfish MOH that caused me to run almost an hour and a half late. Having to get dressed in 2 seconds. The limo driver pushing my head into the side of the limo and knocking my hair piece out. Then the fact that all the stress that was caused with my dress right before my wedding, then developing a thyroid condition 3 months before the wedding. Once I was there and I was enjoying myself I was fine but I was miserable the whole morning. I hated how I looked in my dress too because of the thyriod condition I had swollen (and the 90 degree+ day) and I too HATE watching my video.
You are not alone in feeling that way.

Re: I just want to hide under a rock and burn my dress!
you are definitely not alone! there are things about my day that I cringe about and when someone brings up the wedding, of course my mind always thinks about the bad things first that made me upset. I constantly try to analyze whether this incident or that incident ruined my wedding. But more and more people keep telling me how fabulous it was, so slowly I'm beginning to believe it...but now it's still too fresh in my mind to NOT be upset about the people that tried to ruin it. I guess it's a normal feeling for many brides!
PS you do NOT look at ALL chubby in your dress!

Remember you said DH was in tears over the 2hr Dj mess. I think that would warm yr heart to the point of no stomach pains at all!
You were so radiant on that day - look at all the positives - wonderful DH, dream wedding....... & the DJ stuff - dont let it spoil yr wonderful memories.

I just checked...and I saw no chubbiness in your dress either...just a beautiful woman! please don't let that DJ ruin any more for you! I know it's hard to look past those things.....I had a friend who destroyed the after party for me with her drunken sluttiness (real word?), but I try not to think about that, because I know taht was her decision and there was nothing I could have done to change it.... and, just to stress this point.....you were a beautiful, slender bride!!!!!

OMG!! Please get those thoughts out of your head. You LOOKED AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cried for a week about my DJ bombing at my engagement party and everyone really just praised how much fun they had. We are our own worst critics so I think you might just be noticing things because you knew more than any other. It is sort of like an actor making a mistake....no one notices if they don't know. You know what I mean?
I am so sorry you feel like that...I know how it feels (not for a wedding but still). I did tell my fiance and he made me feel better....maybe you should talk to your hubby!!!
Anyhow, you looked GREAT!!!!!!!!!!

Its funny FlaCaTaCa that you say my pictures look like my wedding was a fun time. You know what it was until I got so many people telling me about my 'friend' who seemed not to be having a good time. Especially when my MOH mentioned that she was geting bad vibes and reactions form the girl all night but didnt want ot tell me. So basically its the negativity from one person clouding me and i know I shouldnt.

Re: I just want to hide under a rock and burn my dress!
PLEASE don't feel like you're alone in this! You looked BEAUTIFUL, what are you talking about?! The DJ didn't ruin your wedding - your friends and family still had an amazing time, didn't they? And you're still married to the man you love, aren't you? That's all that matters!
My family, the night before the wedding, got LOST on the way to the hotel, so didn't arrive until 1 to 2 in the morning. My mother, grandmother and the majority of the BMs didn't sleep AT ALL. I tried but I couldn't. Makeup showed up at 6am. Even the kids didn't sleep.
Before the ceremony my dad decides to go SIT IN THE AUDIENCE because someone (one of the people who works there) told him to. We had 5 people looking for him.
My Jazz Trio TOOK OFF after the ceremony although they were supposed to play the cocktail hour as well, so there was no music. My DJ (although he did a great job otherwise) played the wrong song for our entrance and during the Hora the CD scratched.
My family was told that they could display a wedding cake, even though the hall was Kosher, just not serve it. So my aunt made this BEAUTIFUL wedding cake to display, just to be told the DAY OF THE WEDDING that it wouldn't be allowed after all. So the cake topper didn't go on the cake. And one of our Lenox crystal champange flutes broke.
And it turns out that the photographer didn't take the Bride's side/Grooms side family photos, so BOTH of our families are pissed off about that.
But the worst thing was that my MOH, the one who drove my family crazy with my bridal shower and who was unsupportive the whole year before the wedding - well, she was wonderful the day of the wedding, but told me after I got back from my honeymoon that I was being a total b*tch the whole day and that she wanted to kill me. Well, we had a long talk, and I apologized and I reviewed everything, and maybe I was, but really, I kinda feel that if I had had the support I needed for the time up to the wedding, I wouldn't have been on such pins and needles during the wedding. Also, my family was crazy and my MOH only had 4 hours of sleep (which is more than the rest of us, btw - I had none).
But I digress - basically, EVERYONE THERE said it was the best wedding they had every been to, our familes - Jamaican and Jewish - danced together and laughed and everyone had an amazing time! My MOH's feelings on the day depressed me for about a week, but then I looked at the pics again and thought - well, you know what, it was really a beautiful day, and I married my love, and that's all that matters! Weddings are insane things, and insane things happen. You just have to hold on to the things that really mean something.

Yup, that's exactly what's happening to me. And, it drives by DH crazy, because we really did have an AWESOME wedding. SO MANY people have said it's the best they've ever been to.
But, I just can't get it out of my head that these two girls never did care about me, or my wedding, or even their own cousin because they tried to do EVERYTHING they could to ruin everything...
I WORKED SO HARD and PAID SO MUCH on this wedding, and even on these girls (I covered their hair, my mom got their shoes dyed, and I gave them extravagent gifts) only to have them complain and be nasty...I feel so disrespected!
But, we really do need to get these negatives out of our heads...all it is is women who were nothing but jealous!

Because your wonderful wedding was ALL FOR YOU! And, even in a 'disaster' situation, you still triumphed and had a SPECTACULAR day!!!!
Even though you think she had a wonderful wedding, I am sure that there are things that she didn't like about her day. (just like there were things that WE didn't like about OUR day) And, I think she's jealous because no matter what happened, YOU had a fantastic day!!!!!!
