I know I am sending thank you notes to everyone who was at my wedding, BUT
Should I send them right away with the others, which will be done in about a week, or should I hold off? I ask, because there are a few people who didn't give gifts that I expect will send something later. My BM who is always late with any kind of gift keeps saying she is getting us one, and my mom's first cousin always gives gifts, so I tend to think this was an oversight.
I could write 2 notes, one for coming to the wedding and one for the gift. But I'm just using cards that match my invitations, with no pictures. So it's sort of repetitive to get two notes on the same card. Plus, I really like writing heartfelt and detailed thank you notes to everyone. I can write something very nice about coming to our wedding, but when it comes to just thanking someone for a gift, there's not that much you can write. If I could write about both in the same card, I can write a much nicer note.
What do you think?

I say if you want to get it out of the way, write all of the thank yous at once. But if you want to personalize according to the gifts you recieve, then send them out to the late gifters after. I think it depends on what is important to you.
Unless you want to follow etiquitte(sp) rules, which I never follow anyway and have no clue for thank yous.

I know, it's so hard! I have conflicting issues. I LOVE getting paperwork done, and having things orderly and finished on time. But, I really enjoy sending thank you notes that are detailed and personalized. Everyone commented on my shower thank you notes and that made me feel so good. Argh! what to do, what to do?

I say send the notes now, and if you get something late, write a short note. Yeah, it won't be as nice, but seeing as the whole 'year to give a gift' thing is really a myth, I say that you've already sent the really nice thank you for attendance, and this note should be just as much afterthought as the gift was.

I just showed my DH your comment and we like it! Our Best Man (DH's cousin) didn't give us a gift. So I decided we'll send the thank you to him and his wife for attending. My FH said instead of a little after thought note, well send an afternote email (if we ever get a gift)

We waited to give thank yous to late gift givers. If they can be late, so can we.

I ended up writing those ones last, but we actually did send them out with all the others.
