I know it's not a huge deal but I'm still really ANNOYED with FH

FH and I put together a couple of invites (one set to my parents and one to my brother) and took them to the post office on saturday. We had a whole conversation about hand canceling with the man at the desk and he said it was no problem to hand cancel the rest of them when they were ready.

I had a hair/makeup trial today so FH said he would mail our invites.

I just asked him if they were hand canceled and he had NO CLUE what that was.

Did we not go to the post office on saturday and have a whole conversation and have the man DO IT IN FRONT OF OUR FACE???

I was just dumbfounded. He just 'threw them in the bin.'

I KNOW it's not the end of the world and I'm sure they are fine but I put such extra care on them. We even sealed them with wax. I just wanted them hand canceled and didn't think I had to write it on FH's hand for him to remember!!!!!

I hope the invites are fine with the machine. Sometimes men are just men. For the rest of them I think you should go with him or just do it yourself. I have tried to explain what hand canceling is to fh but i just get a dumb look.

And you are absolutely right, I wanted to scream at him and get really bitchy but I just took a deep breath because as you ladies said, they are men. THey don't get THINGS sometimes. I should've just done it myself or had written step by step directions

Hopefully the post office will hand cancel them anyway - especially with the wax seal being fragile.

This is why FH will not be in charge of doing out invites - he has ZERO idea about this kind of stuff lol.

'Hand canceling simply means that a human stamps a mark over the postage stamp (so the stamp can't be reused), instead of putting it through a machine to do the same thing. My mom works at the post office. She says that some wedding invitations (or other mail) can get destroyed going through the machines, especially if they are very bulky or have a wax seal. My invitations weren't bulky or anything, but I had them hand canceled anyway for a more personal touch! And, no, hand canceling doesn't cost extra!'
