I like a place but it is far..should I reconsider?

Original post by bettybcafe

I really like this place upstate..in Kingston..but its about an hour and a half drive from all my relatives..and I am not sure if they will travel it or not. I would like to know what other brides would do...would you book the hall because you LOVE it and can defintely see yourself being married there..or choose a closer place that accomdates guests..I need help!!

Thanks!

I just went to that wedding I mentioned in a previous post yesterday - at the Hudson Valley Resort and Spa. The reception was under a beautiful white tent. It was really nice. We had a great time.

Well I would just like to tell everyone that I booked the reception/ceremony hall up in Kingston today. I do feel like I made the right choice. I love the place and I have a feeling that alot of my family members will travel..and my FH as well. I am happy

Are there any hotels???

you can mayne rent a coach or school bus that can take all of your guests up there.

i wouldn't do it. i'm from western nassau and had my heart set on east wind, but i didn't want people having to drive over an hour to get there when the church would be near where i live. plus i had so many OOTers that i didn't want them to have to drive farther than they had to.

there are so many nice RHs out there that are close to home. people will notice the inconvenience of having to drive there, whether they tell you or not. i know a lot of my elderly relatives wouldn't have gone if they had to drive that far. i would reconsider.

Yes I understand that..but I put much thought into it..and I figured who ever wants to be there will be there..whoever doesnt come then its fine. Honestly, as long as my immediate family comes (which will definitely come) its all that matters to me. But thank you for the advice.

Yes actually there are 4 hotels in the area..about 2miles away..so whoever cannot drive back home has the option of staying at a hotel nearby.

That's what I was going to say. People will travel... not to worry, FH and I just traveled upstate to go to a wedding at the Glenn Sanders Mantion in Schnechtady (beautiful by the way). So it just goes to show you that if people really want to come, they'll come. Good luck and congrats!

Ok, you need to pick someplace that you really love. I live on Staten Island and got married at Giorgio's, which is in Baiting Hollow, and it was a 3 hour trip. And NO ONE was from in town!!

I would say like about 85% of our guests were OOT and everyone came and stayed in the hotel and had a lot of fun. It was great! People who want to see you get married will come no matter what!
