I have to laugh, my mom was the same. But I'll tell you what I did. I went on line after registering in person, actually a week before my shower and added some stuff that she said 'she would give' and I got a couple of those items at the shower. I never brought it up and neither did she. I looked at it this way, no harm, no foul. I'm very close with my mom too, (she is my MOH) but sometimes you just have to do what you want without anyone elses input.

You should register for what you want and need. I know back in the day, registries did not exist and some folk in that generation have issues with lists but now it is very common and makes the most sense. I remember going to showers and people would get 10 toasters, 5 blenders, 5 irons and mix matched sheets.

Good luck with everything.

I can totally relate! My dad wants to know why I would want to register when I can have my parent's china (from their wedding) to keep! Just do what YOU think is best! And try to laugh it off!

OMG, my mom is driving me crazy too but she's doing the complete opposite. She keeps telling me to add all of this stuff that I don't need and she keeps telling me not to worry because I'm going to get everything on my registries. (Yea, because she's probably going to buy it all )

I had a feeling I wasn't the only one.

KathleenG: Mom suggested the same thing with the china...I had to politely decline. She is too funny.

Dad is even funnier...he is upset about inviting people from too far away... the drive or flight will be too much...so rather than invite them and let them make the decision, he did it for them. Too bad I am ignoring him...and inviting them anyway

she's very sweet - tht mother of your's. why not politely thank her and tell her that you'd like to start your new life with new appliances!

I tried telling her that. She is very funny. A while back, when I first got engaged she kind of admitted to being a little jealous...new start and all that. Maybe that is where it stems from...but, she had a huge wedding when she was my age.
