Re: I love proposal stories....

Well the night before, I was telling FH how I really didn't like living in Connecticut and want to move back to Long Island. I told him I really had nothing holding me down here, we weren't married or anything. The next morning at 5am he woke me up and said 'Christine, we've been dating 3 1/2 years today, I love you, Will you marry me?' Of course I jumped out of bed and realized this was not one of his jokes and accepted!

It was the day before halloween (my favorite holiday) and i was suppose to work at night at my second job-Halloween store but i decided not to go, so fh came over. When he walked in, he handed me a pumpkin and lifted the lid off it and it was filled with orange and white M&M's that had printed on them: Teri Will you marry Me? and buried inside was the ring box with a red bow sticking out.

I said yes of course

Re: I love proposal stories....

It was the end of March and he had decided that he wanted a night out in the City although I live in the city, weird I know. He took me to Rockefeller center, a place that he had wanted to visit for a long time. On the very top floor he insisted that I look out of the sight-viewer thingy, he asked if I could see anything and my vertically-challenged self could not. Then he said can you see this and took my hand. I knew that he would propose this year since it would have been our fourth year of dating but I thought he would do it on our anniversary! Afterwards we went to dinner at our favorite High school-after school spot---Popeyes! It was perfect in my eyes!

FH kept asking me to be his gf and i always said no...i decided one day 'ok lets give this a shot' so i texted him 'pick a date' so technically we made it official over a text lol. he always said to me 'i'm gonna propose via text' and i freaked, i was like you cant do that.
he ended up making a trail of rose petals through our living room to the bedroom and propping my old cell phone open with the text message 'will you marry me' on it. the ring was tied to the antenna with fishing line
the last pic is a little blurry

i organized a group islanders hockey game with our family and friends on november 3 because it was a special game (the old coach was coming back to coach one more game). and my fh was coming over to my house before the game. he ended up being like an hour and a half late to my house and i gave him a bit of the silent treatment. we headed off to the game before everyone eles because we have a tradition of getting wendys on the way. when we got there we stayed in the parking lott to finish our food and he told me 'since this is a special game i got you something special to remember it' he went to the trunk and came around to my side of the car with a build a bear box with a bear deacked out in islanders gear. he told me to press its hand and the bear said 'will you skate with me for the rest of my life' and i turned to him because i was confused and he was on one knee outside of the car with the ring box open in his hand and said 'babe will you marry me?' i barely said yes through all my tears. then we went to our seats and all our family came to celebrate with us at the game! it was perfect.

We were visiting my grandmother (whom I hadn't seen in 10 years) in San Diego. We were at Balboa Park in the Japanese Friendship Garden in the pouring rain, and he took me out onto the overlook and asked under an umbrella. He wanted me to be able to tell my grandmother and family out there, which I found incredibly considerate =)

Re: I love proposal stories....

Proposing had always been our no-no subject because I had always felt like I was ready before him. A few months before we got engaged FH brought a new car and I thought to myself, 'it's never gonna happen now with a car note annnnd insurance.' Well fortunately I was wrong. Out of the blue he started talking about proposals all the time and I was starting to get really antsy and annoyed. I kept thinking, 'I wish he would just shut up if he's not going to do it!' The icing on the cake was when he showed me a zales bag. My heart nearly jumped out of my body but then he said that they were doing some promotional thing in the mall and gave out a free jewelry cleaning kit. I fell for it, my heart sunk, and I was literally bawling for like an hour over his really horrible prank! Little did I know that my ring was just being sized for my 4.5 finger! Fastforward a week later after barely talking to him (lol), he took me to a place called Roosevelt Island and as were looking across the water at Manhattan, he starts giving me gold M&M's (obviously my fav color). The whole time I was just eating them and not paying attention to the wording. Finally he tells me to read them. I looked down and one said 'Complete Me' and the other said 'Marry Me.' I was so shocked that I just kept saying 'Shut up...for real?!?!' lol.

Re: I love proposal stories....

OK, so it's around 10 AM and I'm sleeping.... I work nights, so I enjoy my sleep. My phone rings.

FH: Come outside
Me: I'm sleeping and it's raining, no.
FH: Just c'mon... you need to look outside, there's something I want you to see.
Me: Well, you can't possibly be outside my house, you're not supposed to be here for another hour.
FH: Just come look outside.

So now I'm curious, I put on some sweats and go outside.... FH is standing there with a dozen roses and a monkey... gets down on one knee and says:

I am going to love you until the last rose dies* will you marry me?

I reply with 'ARE YOU KIDDING ME PUT IT [THE RING] BACK!' I finally say yes and he puts the ring on.

** My twelfth rose is silk, it'll never die... awww!!!

Re: I love proposal stories....

FH is a HUGE 'Rocky' fan. (We even names our rabbits Rocky and Apollo, lol!!)

When I first saw the movies with him, I thought the way Rocky proposed to Adrianne was the cutest thing ever. (Long story short; he took her to the zoo and asked her what she was doing for the next 40-50 years.) I told him that if he ever asked me to marry him, I'd want him to do it just like that....

He ended up proposing to me at the Bronx Zoo this past December when we took my son to the Holiday Lights Show. By the tigers, just like in the movie.

Re: I love proposal stories....

FH and I went to Vegas because his uncle was getting married there. We had reservations at an italian restaurant at 6:30pm at the Venetian hotel and we were hanging out before hand. Around 5:30 hes like 'i'm hot lets go outside' even though outside was even hotter, like 95 degrees lol... so then hes like 'hey lets go on a gondola ride' and i knew something was up because it was VERY random. Well it turns out that they weren't operating the outside gondolas because of a wind watch, so we had to go to the ones inside. at this point it was 5:50 and FH was freaking out bc he didnt think we were going to make it in time for our reservation... so eventually we made it onto the boat and at the end before the gondola turned around, he nervously whipped off his seatbelt, got in front of me on his knee and blurted out 'jenny i love you so much will you marry me!?' and looked like he was about to cry! he was so nervous it was so funny! :) and then he just basically handed me the ring LOL.. i will always tease him about that!

Re: I love proposal stories....

Fh proposed to me on Christmas Eve at 12am (so really Xmas Day) He had the ring in an ornament that said 'will you marry me' I thought it was a joke because I never expected it. I actually told him it was a joke and when I opened the ring box I told him it was fake...then he took the box from me and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!!! I bawled and of course I said yes!!!
