I'm annoyed, or ungrateful, pick one, I don't care...

So, JT's mom told me MONTHS ago to tell my sister and mother to tell everyone NOT to buy our pots and pans off our registry because she wanted to buy them for JT and I as an engagement present. They're very expensive, and my first reaction was to tell her not to buy them, but then I thought, well, they are contributing ZERO money to our wedding, so I'll let her buy them for us. Well, she kept bugging me to set up my registry at BBB so she could go buy the pots and pans. So I set up our new registry at BBB, and then gave her a copy about three weeks ago. All she's been talking about is these stupid pots and pans. So, I thought it was great of her that she was buying us our pots and pans. Well, she calls us last night and says, 'Well, after two years, I FINALLY got you your engagement gift!' So I got psyched. Then she says, 'They're so pretty, too!' I'm sitting there thinking, ok, pots and pans can be pretty, I guess. Then she says, 'I found those toasting flutes you've been wanting! It took me two years to buy you a gift, but I told you I would get you what you wanted! They're the ones with the ribbons, and they were on clearance for a GREAT price!' So I'm thinking, what the HELL is she talking about? I had a conversation with her about a month ago about how we are not registering for or bringing toasting flutes to the reception because they will only get lost or broken and it wasn't worth it. And she kept going on and on and on about these f-ing, stupid toasting flutes. So she had my mom and sister tell people for MONTHS not to buy my pots and pans because she was buying them, then she went out and bought something I never asked for, never wanted and was on clearance. This is so f-ing typical of his mother. I'm just aggravated. I don't care about the stupid pots and pans or the money, it's just like, what the f is wrong with you? I KNEW she would do this. I knew it. It's just like at Christmas when she asks me what size pants JT wears, I tell her a 32 waist, 32 length, and she goes out and buys a 38 waist and 34 length because they were on clearance. I'm so annoyed! Thanks for letting me vent.

I don't think you are ungrateful...I understand completely and i would have been annoyed too!

i must admit, though, that i laughed a little while reading this because I too, have problems with the 'outlaws'

You are not ungrateful. You have every right to be annoyed! I would be pissed. It sounds like there is just no way to win with her! I'm sure if someone else bought u the pots and pans then she would have been upset and would have went on about it for a long time.

OMG, do you know her? That is EXACTLY what she would do. I don't know. I can't stand this woman sometimes.....ok, most times.

NOTHING IS WORSE THAN SOMEONE BUYING STUFF ON CLEARANCE FOR YOU AND TELLING YOU ABOUT IT!!!


I can't stand cheap people. pisses me off, because I am not cheap!! have your FH ask her about the pots, just to make sure....you still have plenty of time incase she doesn;t buy you the pots and someone can.....

Your best bet is to go through your FH...

I mean, I know someone will buy the pots and pans, and if they don't, I will buy them myself. It's totally not that at all. I just don't understand the MONTHS of talking about them and about buying them for us, then buying something I already told her I DIDN'T want. So f-ing weird. I swear. ARGH! I'm just so aggravated. I mean, I'm sure the toasting flutes are pretty, but I didn't want them. She kept saying, 'I'll let you look at them, but I'm going to keep them here.' What the hell is that? Did she really buy them for herself, but she's going to hope I forget about them?

Oh boy, sounds like your getting yourself a handful there.
Sorry she's aggrevating you. Why was it necessary to ram the pots and pans down your throat only to not get them? Maybe FI can ask about that just to put a spark in her head!

I'm not going to bother saying anything to her. JT's family is just plain old f-ed up. His sister pulls this sh-t all the time, too. Like, when we got engaged, she said, 'Oh, I bought you an engagement gift! Come by and I'll give it to you.' So I stopped by her house and she danced around the subject of the gift, and it turned out she never bought one for us, but she never mentioned it to us again. So I'm surprised his mom even bought anything at all!
