I'm back with a question, of course...

Sorry to have been away from the boards for so long - I've missed you girls and your great advice. I was off from work from December 19 till today - and let's face it - it's here that I'm on the boards mostly. Got a lot of things done - but here is my question.

I know you ususally invite single guests with a respective guest, but are you supposed to also invite single members of the bridal party with a guest. I wasn't even considering it until one of my BMs said she would have to find a date for my wedding. I figured we'd all just hang out together...

Help!!!

I would definitely invite bridal party members with a date.

That is entirely up to you.. Personally, and this goes for both the BP and the guests, unless they are dating someone seriously, I am not inviting them with a guest.. I wish I could but not only is it costly, but I'm not too fond of the idea of having some random strangers, or hook-ups at my wedding.. There was a near disaster at my eparty, and I'd like to avoid again at all costs..

Another thing: something a BM said to me was, that even if she were invited with a guest, she wouldn't bring one, cause she feels obligated to have to *babysit* him all night..

We invited everyone with a guest.Surprisingly they chose to come without one but we wanted to give them the option. Its up to you.

I believe you should also invite them with a guest and if its significant other, then seat them together at reception. I would think its common courtesy.

I did give my bridal party members an option for a date, we did not do a BP table everyone sat with their dates. Who will they dance with, you will not be with your BP at all when you get to the reception.

hey paiz!!! i am inviting my bp w/a guest.........friends that have long term relationships w/a guest.........and my single friends w/out a long term relationship by themselves......glad to have you back on the board!!

I'm only inviting those who are in a serious relationship with guests. It's too much $$ for some random date - and then who wants these people in your album for all of eternity??

I think you should leave it open for her. If she is not in a serious relationship, and just finds someone for the heck of it, will he feel comfortable, and then she will feel obligated to stay by him all night.
Two of hubby's ushers were single, and had relationship, we still put and 'guest' on invite. Butthey fely more comfortbale NOT bringing someone.

I agree with most of the other, I am putting a guest on everyone who is over 18. It sure does add up, but that is the way I have been invited to every wedding I have ever attended, and you won't be hanging out much with the bridal party - you will be very busy.

I think it depends on the age of the guests attending. For the Bridal party we are definately inviting them all with a date, but with people from work it is so much easier to invite single people or else half of them can't come I have been working with the same group of people for almost 5 years.. They will understand and if they don't then they don't have to talk to me anymore

i would (and will) invite all members of the wedding party with a date. i feel it's proper etiquette. it'll then be up to them to decide (hopefully wisely!).
