I'm new!
Hi everyone,I'm new and just wanted to say hi and let everyone know that I will be needing some advice in the coming months.
FI is very stubborn, so any advice from brides in the same situation would be great.
We are getting married upstate, so vendors aren't a question, however other advice is always appreciated.
Does anyone have any ideas for asking my bridesmaids and maid of honor to be bridesmaids and a maid of honor?
I was planning an afternoon lunch at my mom's house and having them read out loud a poem or giving them a small token.
Any ideas would be great.
Thanks.

Re: I'm new!
Congratulations. Welcome to the boards! My FI is very stubborn as well, so I know how you feel. Ha-ha! I don't know where in upstate you are getting married, but my friend got married at Catling Gardens, I think it's in White Plains and she absolutely loved it.Anyway, reading the poem thing is really cute. I like that idea.
Happy planning!

Re: I'm new!
Welcome !!!
And just in time for the new contest LIW has.
And for the bridesmaids, I like the poem idea. You can buy them each a card that says 'Will You Be My Bridesmaid?' and tell them why you picked them and put something really special on them.
Happy Planning !!!!

Re: I'm new!
Welcome
My 1st and most important piece of advice to you as a 'Newbie'....
Be very careful in who you pick as bridemaids and groomsmen. This is the #1 thing that could go wrong and cause you the most fustration in the long run.
Take your time thinking about who means the most to you in your life and who will still be the most important people in your life come your wedding and there after....
I think a lot of girls on this site would agree with me on this one. Don't hurry into picking the Bridal Party. You will always have time for that.
Best of luck and happy planning!

Re: I'm new!
Congrats and welcome. I love the poem idea. I wish I would have done something like that, I just asked them. They all knew they were part of my wedding anyway.

Welcome!! You will be addicted to this site in no time flat.
My only advice for asking Bridesmaids and Maid of Honor is, only ask those you are truly close with and who you really want to share your special day. In other words, don't ask anyone you feel 'obligated' to ask or who it is 'expected' that you ask, especially if you have a strained relationship or a relationship that's not close. It will only cause problems in the long run. Trust us.
Happy planning!

Re: I'm new!
Congrats and welcome! I'm new as well and just starting my planning. These boards are great, lots of info and great gals who will give you advice. There are some cute cards on www.paperstyle.com for asking your bridesmaids and MOH. They were $2.50 each (I usually buy .99 cent cards) but worth it. I haven't asked anyone yet, I'm hoping they like them.
