I'm not sure if I need limos...

I have a large bridal pary, 2 MOH's 5 BM's, 7 groomsmen and 2 ringbearers. Here is the dilemma: I am getting married at Flowerfield and I am probably getting ready there instead of at home. Also my FH and I are doing our pics before hand. SO, do I get limos to pick me and my girls up at my house even though we wont be dressed until we get to flowerfield? Or do I skip the limos? HELP PLEASE!

Re: I'm not sure if I need limos...

if you can afford it, i would do it. who cares if you aren't dressed yet. you won't have to worry about everyone getting there, and it would be fun and a nice touch.

Re: I'm not sure if I need limos...

I would get the Limos for the fun of it, as long as you can afford it. Besides it probably won't cost too much because its just a pick up (at your house) and drop off (at Flowerfields).

Re: I'm not sure if I need limos...

This would be a good way to save some $$. But if you can afford them and you really want them maybe you can work out a deal with them to take you to Flowerfields and pick you up at the end of the night?

Re: I'm not sure if I need limos...

christy,
i dont think i'm having limos. our ceremony and reception are in the same place. we are spending so much money on everything else, i think this is going to be the one area we hold back on.

GM and DH got dressed at LE, but didn't have a limo...DH and fam did, b/c they wanted to drink at the wedding...DH's uncle paid for it

Re: I'm not sure if I need limos...

Another less expensive option would be to hire a car service with nice town cars. You still get the luxury of sitting back and letting someone else do the driving without the expense of the limo.

Re: I'm not sure if I need limos... but I know I need HELP figuring this out! (LONG, sorry!)

Wow, I am having a very similar problem and could really use some advice, particularly from those brides (Debbie08, et al) who are NOT using limos...

Here's my situation:

I live out of town (DC) and so will be staying at my parents' house before the wedding. Getting dressed there. My Bridesmaids I assume will dress at the hotel. Church is in Commack at 3:30 pm. Reception doesn't start til 6:30 at Lands End in Sayville. In between, the bridal party and family was going to go take photos, while the rest of the guests were going back to the hotel in Hauppauge to relax in the lounge until the receiption started.

My fiance and I are really trying to save money where we can and, like some of you, don't feel we NEED limos. Other than a small car for us (we don't plan to drive ourselves, but don't feel we necessarily need a limo either), we didn't think it was worth the extra $$ for another limo...or two! I don't even know how many we would need. We have 12 people in the bridal party total (5 bridesmaids, 5 groomsmen, and 2 ushers: my brothers). I've spoken with most of them and no one seems to care if we don't have limos for them...in fact, none of them did for their weddings.

My father, the control freak, seems to think 'everyone will think we are classless people' if we don't get limos for the bridal party because we are doing everything else up so nicely. of course, my argument is that BECAUSE we are doing everything else nice, we NEED to save $$ here and not go nuts with limos. I should add that he is not paying for the limos, but is paying the entire reception cost ($100/head). My fiance and I are picking up everything else (photography, band, flowers, favors, etc).

So I guess my question is WHAT DO I DO???

Is there a way to 'tastefully' do this without limos (and without offending my Dad and his strange sensibilities)? Any suggestions as to how?

I don't even know who needs to get where and when, even if we DID use limos. Do my folks ride with me to the church? Then how do they get from there to the reception when my husband and I get into our car? What about the bridesmaids...are they supposed to ride with me from home to the church? And what do we do with their husbands, if so?

I am so confused on this one. Any/all advice is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance, and apologies for the long message!

Alison

Re: I'm not sure if I need limos... but I know I need HELP figuring this out! (LONG, sorry!)

Sorry for posting again, but I posted this so late last night, it ended up getting buried. I realize it's a super-long message, but I really don't know what to do and could use as much advise as possible! Thanks again, ladies.
