I can not believe I did this but I forgot to send our priest an invitation. The problem is that the RSVP date has passes so I need your advice as to what I should do. Do I omit the RSVP card and just make sure there is extra room at one of the tables in case he comes? Or do I cross out the original RSVP date on the response card and put a date that is one week before the wedding?
I knew I was going to forget something big, but I feel like such an idiot!
PLease help, any oppinions are more then welcome.

Re: I made an oops, PLEASE HELP
IMO, I would take out the RSVP card. Since you'll probably be meeting with him a month or so out, you can just ask him whether or not he'll be attending the reception in just a casual way.

Re: I made an oops, PLEASE HELP
That presents another problem, my wedding is in 3 weeks and I met with him already. But I think it is a good idea to just omit the RSVP I will make a place for him at the table and if he doesn't come it's not that big of a deal. I am just so embarrassed that I forgot.

You could always ask him his opinion of your invitation the next time you talk to him. When he says, he never got one, say something and then make sure to bring him one the next time. It's a little white lie, but it should be ok.

Re: I made an oops, PLEASE HELP
i am sure he won't mind.
depending on how close you are to him you may want to tell him the truth- just say you were so hoping he would come and counting on him being there that it slipped your mind
we all do these silly things

Yea, I really wouldn't condone lying to a priest!! Best bet is to be straightforward with him.

I would be honest and send a note with the invitation explaining what happened and how you are really hoping he can make it.

I didn't even know we were supposed to invite the priest. Is this standard?

I am because i grew up with him- He knows my family and I very well...so it would be weird to NOT have him there- but i wouldnt say it is standard, maybe a nice gesture

Re: I made an oops, PLEASE HELP
I think you should just invite him verbally, and add him in whether he responds or not.
All you'll be losing is having to pay for a guest that does not attend. you really can't give him an invitation w/an expired rsvp date...

FH and I didn't send an invite to him because the invite is mainly for the church. We just asked him to join us for the reception when we met with him

It's a courtesy and often times, they don't attend.

I'd fib a little and tell him you sent it but did not hear back so you were checking in. When he says he hasn't recieved it say you'll send a new one :)
I know it's terrible to lie, especially to a priest but you'd hate to hurt his feelings. He might give a really long boring homily then

Yeah I kind of agree with you... I am sure he wont mind the rsvp date, as I am sure that he has dealt with a lot of brides and he all knows we have a million things to tend to.
