As some of you know 8 days before my wedding my Mom needed to have emergency hysterectomy....she is home now but she cannot bend or walk up or down stairs etc I went to see her last night and I was telling my parents about taking pictures at Westbury Manor and how the studio room is all the way upstairs and they dont have an elevator my Dad started yelling that its not fair or right it should be handicap accessable so I got upset and told him if I could change things I would but I cant and I made a jokwe about her not being able to come over in the morning to see me get ready but I felt a lump in my throat and started BAWLING so of course my Mom started crying too I feel bad because now she feels bad but I cant help it I want my MOMMY

Re: I made my mom cry
awww - maybe you dad was just venting.
I sort of agree with him though - they should have some kind of plank or ramp that she could use to get up stairs
Dont worry though - you will have a wonderful day and all will be fine

You're in my prayers. Those stairs are steep and there are quite a few of them. Is there nothing they can do for you? Have you tried calling? Maybe they can use a another room for your photo's.

If your Mom needs a wheel chair for the day please let me know. I can borrow one my Mom has. (Not that she is using it now, she has one for here and one for Florida and she is in Florida. Maybe we could decorate it for her.:

Have you tried calling to see if there is anything they can do? How is your Mom recovering by the way?

I am so sorry! What you are feeling is completely understandable. We encountered the handicap accessibility issue with one hall we looked at and they said they would have people that would help the individual up the stairs. Maybe that is an option for you? I really hope everything works out for you.

Awe... that's a tough situation, but they should have it handicapped accessible. But I would talk to them... under the circumstances, they should be able to change the plans to accommodate your mom.

Re: I made my mom cry
Can you have your pics done somewhere else? Have you asked the place if you can do something else for the pics. They should do something. But saying doesn't help, huh. I am so sorry.

Re: I made my mom cry
My Dad has great difficulty walking and has to use a wheelchair occassionally (usually outside of people's houses). My choice of halls was down to Westbury Manor and Watermill but I had to eliminate Westbury Manor for that reason. No handicapped accessibility.
for you, mom, dad and the family.
BTW that staircase is also very dark and narrow. Speaking as someone with experience it's too narrow to lift the person up. It's also embarassing. That's why I didn't pick it, I kept thinking how would it look if the father of the bride had to be lifted up the stairs. I know you can't do anything about it now, just make sure you go over every detail with them. They have to find another room for you at some point. What about that library room?
