Sooooo my old company made me an offer last week to go back to work there and make more $$$ than I'm making now. I'm pretty sure I'm going to take the offer b/c right now I really need the money! Just all of a sudden I started to feel so guilty b/c I know they really need me where I work now. I work for a large sports company and a lot of people would love to work here.....I guess I'm just starting to feel bad that I'd be abandoning them!! My old company is a large financial firm- I like the people better in that office and my hours would be better (9-5 instead of 10-6 where I am now). I told my current job that they made me an offer, and they were supposed to be working up a counter offer- that was a week ago and they still haven't said anything to me.
I guess I'm just starting to feel guilty and wanted to hear what you girls think- considering we're all planning weddings- would you leave your current job if you were offered something that was 5K more per year and included overtime pay (which I don't get paid for now and I work tons of OT!!!).

I say do whatever will make you happier..and don't think of it as being so personal...it's about business...for example if they had to lay you off they would do it in a second...as long as you give a company proper notice there is no reason to feel guilty (but i know how it feels...i felt so bad when i left my company of 8 years...) but that job drove me nuts and i am soooo much happier not being there...which makes me happier in general!
Helen- you would be silly not to take the new job. You said it yourself..better pay, better hours, overtime, you like the people there.
And I wouldn't feel guilty. If they really wanted to keep you they would have come up with a counteroffer. Don't let your feelings hold you back. In this world you have to do what is best for yourself. They won't be shorthanded bc you evern said there were lots of people who wanted to work there.

You have to do what is right for you and your future. You shouldn't feel guilty b/c you have to take care of yourself. I am in the same predicament right now. I got a new job that will be better in the long run for me but felt bad giving my old job my resignation. Don't feel bad and since you are getting an increase in pay than that makes it all worthwhile.
