So I was informed today that I might be let go at the end of the school year. My school district is proposing BIG budget cuts, which might include 2 English teachers...and since I was the second-last person hired.....my job is in jeopardy. So, if anyone who works in a school district hears of an opening for a secondary english teacher, I'd appreciate it! I teach 7th grade English now......and I love it, but I'm willing to do high school if need be! I appreciate it!! Thanks!
a few years ago my sister was on the chopping block...one person beneath her...like you...
a little later they said they would be able to keep her PT...and by sept they made her club (yearbook) a class and kept her as FT...
so I am optimistic for you!!!

thanks! i just got an email from one of the other techers at school and he is going to help me out also. i seem to have a lot of options open to me at this point....so i'm trying to stay optimistic about it all. it's a lot better than crying all day.....(although i've done my share of that as well)

I spoke with my department chair again this morning and she was a lot more optimistic about my position....although the other new teacher may not be as lucky..... My position may be cut back a little next year (.8 - which means one less class) but I would still recieve full benefits and still be tenure track. I'll still be looking to other districts, but at least he sun is shining a little brighter on my future today!
