its so weird to know she is not going to be there on our day in person. last year this time, she had just gotten diagnosed with cancer and we were spendingn our free time visitng her and laughing and joking ...life is so unfair..
i don't know which is worse -the hurt i feel missing her (since we were so close) or watching fh get sad from missing her....
this year has been one of so mnay downs for us and now we are getting married in about a month or so, which is happy, but i still miss her so much...
thanks for letting me complain (and listening!)
please, please, please girls - i know some fmils/mils are crazy but cherish them for who they are.

Your post got me teary-eyed. I'm so sorry about your loss. I know she will be looking down on you on your special day....
You are so right too on appreciating and loving our moms and FMIL for who they are...

I'm so sorry for your loss.
It makes me feel bad that I get so annoyed with my FMIL.
Know that she'll be there- laughing and crying and being happy - with you on your day.

thanks to both of you - and you are not wrong for getting annoyed at your fmil - i am so lucky in that my fmil was wonderful but i know that not all are....i am so grateful we were abel to get so close and even though we never made it to officially become fmaily, we were for all that counts! at hewr funeral, everyone kept saying i missed out on a wonderful mil and i told them all i guessed i did, because instead i had two wonderful mothers....and now i only have one (mine)

Deirdre, I am so sorry for your and FH's loss... But, I want you to know that your post really gave me some food for thought, b/c I admit that I do not 'cherish' my MIL for who she is. Inspired by your moving post, I will try harder to remember that I am lucky to have my ILs...

i know how you feel. my grandpa died a few years back. he died of cancer. I was very close with him and he always said he wanted me to save a dance for him at my wedding. Now planning my wedding, I get upset thinking he wont be sharing this day with me. so in memory of him, my favors will be a donation to the cancer society in his name. even though time has passed it still hurts knwoing hes not their to share this day with me. so i know how you feel..

thanks - we are doing doniations to a lung cancer non profit - plus little things (candleplacecards and her fav flower on the table she would have sat at among other things....) i am sorry to hear about your loss too - it is difficult, even though you know they will be there, you wish they were 'really' there!
