I need a career path

I need to go to school....I want to have a high paying career(dont we all)
I am a stay at home mom right now but once my daughter starts kindergarten I want to go to school and get a job etc.
I have no idea what I want to do
maybe an accountant FBIL is a CPA and he makes a a lot of $$$$$$$

what do you girls all do and any suggestions??

I am an Associate Teacher in a day care.
The $$ is not there. I love my job, just wish I made a lot more $$.
You have to remember, yes, $$ plays a big role in life, however, IMO happiness is more important. I tell that to DH all the time.
My BIL is also a CPA and makes a very decent salary. My DH is a senior accountant hoping to re-take his CPA. His goal is to pass it. My goal is to get a raise, or eventually, move on.

I totally understand wanting to make tons of $$$$, but you also have to know your personality. I definately learned this year that the $$$ isnt Always worth it when youre in a job that you hate. Accounting is great in the sense of makinig nice $$$ and a sense of security--- but its also Very tedious and involved. Which ever you decide, you should definately look into all aspects of the career to see if Thats what you want.

I work in a college working with the computer system the college uses...I worked on Wall Street and made a great deal more $$$$, but quit that to work fewer hours. Often the jobs where you make a great deal of $ are not 9-5...I finished my master's and am starting a doctoral program in the fall, so hopefully after I complete that I will get a hefty raise...DH is an accountant, finishing the prerequisites to sit for the CPA exam--I heard it has gotten a lot more difficult to pass in the past several years, and is getting to be even more difficult to pass all sections...As a mother I would think which jobs are doable if you want to work with their school schedules and vacations--maybe teaching?

I used to be on the honor roll and principal's list but then got pregnant at 17 and got my GED
When people hear that often they assume I am not smart ....but this is the hand I was dealt I wouldnt change it for anything...yes I got pregnant at a young age but I am still a very capable person so the sky is the limit right??

I just wanna give my children a great life!!!!

You could get started at Nassau or Suffolk part time to finish an Associate's--that should transfer to a 4 year school (if you get an AA or an AS--I used to work as an advisor so I know about that stuff), and give you time to choose a direction in which you may want to go in terms of major at a 4 year school. I think it is a mistake to decide you just want a job making the most $--$ doesn't equal satisfaction, or quality of life, and if you want to continue to spend time with your children a great deal I would choose a profession with flexible hours and time (which many of the high paying jobs do not allow).

I work also in a college but my job is not the greatest I work in foodservice I mean i do make good money but it took me 11 years to get where I am now. Dh is a sales rep at wal-mart and he makes good money. gl I hope you find your path.

Thats so wonderful!! You are a good mom, and that is an incredible thing. I think you should just go back to get a general degree for now, and then take classes in things that interest you - I bet something (teaching sounds perfect!) will just pop out at you within a few semesters. Plus, a good counselor within the school will be able to help steer you towards a goal.

Your kids are lucky to have a mom who wants to give them so much.

thanks girls...I do love my kids
I was lucky enough to be class mom this year and am getting ready for the Thanksgiving celebration they are having tomorrow...I am also in the PTA
