I need advice!

So there are basically two spots where a DJ can set up at my venue. I'd really love to have my dj in one of the suggested spots, and I told him this, and he told me that in all of his 25 years, he has never set up in that spot. He said he would 'strongly advise against it, and that it's a recipe for disaster.' I don't see how that's possible, because it's only about 10 feet to the left of the other spot. What should I say back to him? I feel like I'm paying good money and that it shouldn't be a problem. My BM said that plenty of djs set up there, and I even saw it like this at the bridal showcase last week with the dj they had there. Any advice?

did your dj explain why it would be a disaster? that seems weird. maybe it has to do with wires ?

No he didn't really explain himself. I attached the pictures I took of the dj that they had set up in that spot at the bridal showcase, and I didn't notice any wires laying around!

Ultimately he is hired by you and he should do what you want. I would ask him why he says its a recipe for disaster maybe theres a good reason. But like I said, ultimately he should be doing what you want and if you strongly feel you want it in one area then you should stress that to him.

since i was at the showcase, I know exactly what spot you're talking about, and I agree with your DJ... I think that the spot in the center is better because many of the tables won't be able to see the DJ booth otherwise.. Also, having it to the left would make it too close to the tables on that side as well. The center location is really the best place for the booth, and it's far enough from the bar and the tables that it isn't in the way of anything. I've been to a wedding where the booth was centered and it was really nice, and I kinda thought that the placement of the booth at the showcase was awkward.

however, if that is the spot you really want the booth to be in, I agree that your DJ shouldn't be so resistant to do so because it's your wedding and you're paying him. If you e-mail him back, I would ask why he strongly advises against it. Maybe there are other reasons other than what I stated above, like the sound or something

cets1290 - I spoke with my mom about it last night, and she said exactly what you're saying! I just want to make sure there is enough open space between the dinner tables and that front bar area, so everyone is free to move to and from during the reception. I just haven't seen a dj set up in that middle spot yet!
