Don't give up, people get pregnant, move, etc. all the time. When there are leave replacements jump to send your resume. That is how I got my first year of exp.

Good luck and don't give up!!! Sub for a little while to keep your resume active.

Did any of you go to 65 Court street and talk to someone there? Try subbing for awhile, if someone leaves and your a regular sub they may give you a f/t position.

Great advice! I agree... try to sub in different districts and keep your resume active!!!

I agree -- you should definitely sub in a distict! There are always leave replacement positions opening up for teachers who leave during the year for maternity leave. It's your best option. I would even sign up on a sub list to sub in more than one district -- the more districts, the better the chance of landing a more permanent position!

Good Luck!

I would ask around with friends and see if they have anyone in their buildings who will retire next year. Then sub in that district EVERY DAY, and next year you'd have a MUCH better chance of being hired!

If you dont do anything teacher related this year it will look bad when you go on an interview.

I would also send out resumes to every district you are willing to teach in. Back when I needed to I sent resumes to every single district on LI with an exception of a few.

I'll let you all know if I hear anything.

ETA: I would not sign up to sub in more than 2 districts. Because if district A calls you and you cant work because district B already called you, district A isnt as happy. Imagine having many districts. You want to work for the most promising ones.
