I need answers

Since I have been home today, I have been watching a baby's story, I saw one woman who started going in reverse after she got to about 8 or 9, what happened?? did the baby change its mine?? How can you go from dilating to no more dilating???Please explain, b/c she had to get a c-section and she started having a fever. This labor thing is no joke. thanks

LOL Shamma - 'did the baby change its mine' Honestly Ive never heard about going in reverse... then again Im not a doc and I dont know everything but with the not dilating anymore sometimes labor just stops... I dont know if its hormons or the womans body just saying 'NO MORE' or if the docs wanted her to have the baby after a while and she wasnt going fast enough for her safety or the babies... I wished I watched it. And yes, labor is NO place for laughing no ha has when your face is all red from breathing so hard and trying to push your monster out.

Re: I need answers

for the future: when you are pushing, push like you are taking a poop. Don't push from your face. Some people bear down and they dont push from the right place. Not only does it not help the baby come out but you can end up with broken blood vessels and a puffy, swollen face. and if the baby is almost out, whatever you do find the energy somewhere to keep pushing. That's what happened with me, I got a huge rush of adrenaline and pushed the baby out b/c I didnt want him to go back in and have to push, push, push, push again. Despite your fears or concerns, it will be so amazing when the time comes and so worth it.

I thought it was a bit too much information but I posted anyway. It was the best advice I got - from a few people! Hope it helps

I think it is great no one tells you this kind of stuff!

Re: I need answers

I think that is why I speak to real women and not these experts in books that generalize on everything, your baby's proression, how you should feel etc. Thanks

Re: I need answers

I haven't ever given birth yet, but that's also why sometimes I try not to watch those shows. I don't want anything to scare me.

I'm planning a water birth and guess what...my MW says there's no pushing!! You get into the tub after 5cm, and the time it takes to get from 5-10cm is shorter than on 'dry land'. I can't explain why there's no pushing, but I'll let you know.

Niha - I dont know if the whole 'no pushing' thing is accurate. A friend of mine had a water birth and she pushed for about an hour... The water may speed up the process (Again something Ive never heard of but I dont know everything) but you still may have to push the baby out... it just doesnt slide out.

Re: I need answers

Niha, i cannot wait to read your birthing story. Push already

Re: I need answers

I guess I'll have to ask my MW again what she meant. Maybe she meant that the pushing wasn't as much or as strenous??
