I need guidance!!!

Ok I'm starting to feel like I'm getting in over my head with the wedding. At first I had a clear idea of what I wanted to accomplish/book and in what order. Now I'm just so confused.

Should I book a florist before I get my dress? Should I be trying on dresses already? I torture myself...

Can you share the order you booked your vendors?

Don't feel overwhelmed! Take a deep breath & it will all work out!

I personally am doing things in the following order/timeline:
RH- Booked!
DJ- will be booked by the end of next week
Photographer- Book on/before 11/20/09
Florist- Book on/before 4/20
Limo- Book on/before 5/21
Hair/Makeup- Book on/before 7/20

As for the dress- I too am doing a weight loss program so I hope to shed some lbs. before I begin the search. I will probably begin seriously looking the end of July 2010 for my June 2011 wedding. I also want to wait because new styles come out, & I have a few weddings this upcoming summer as well.

I think you should do whatever you are comfortable with, & what is most important to you. I got a planner (yes like a school planner) to write appointments & goals in. Like for September I wrote 'Book DJ, begin setting appointments for photographers'. Every month I have a different goal to complete for the wedding

i agree with most of the girls on here...definitely start your research on a RH...then dress/photo/florist...dont stress out too much, you do have over a year so after you get the RH you can take your time and get all the other stuff done!

Really, you should book it in the order it's most important to you! If you don't care where you have it, but you MUST have this photographer, then book the photog first.

So far this is what I've done:

1. Reception Hall/Church
2. Photographer
3. DJ
4. Photobooth
5. Dress

Next I'll be doing:

1. Limos
2. Florists
3. Invites/Favors.

But all the while when I was booking vendors, I had been going dress shopping in between. Stores always tell you you need a billion months to get your dress is, but I don't believe it. Give yourself a reasonable amount of time to order the dress, receive it, exchange (if necessary), and make alterations. Good luck and happy planning!

Dont worry it will all fall into place.

I wouldn't stress, you have plenty of time until '11. This is how we did everything:

RH
Church
hotel block
Photo/video
makeup
Flowers
Photbooth
DJ
Limos
Invites

Now I'm on to ordering my dress within the next couple of weeks and then finding my BM dresses. Don't stress, everything will work out in the end!
