I was supposed to get married April 15th 2007 but I had to break off the engagement because my fiancee was abusive. I let the catering hall know in September and they are giving me a hard time. Not only will they NOT refund my deposits but if they can't book the date, I will be responsible for paying 75% of the total. we were going to have 200-220 guests at about $100 per plate. I don't want to give out any info so as not to make the hall look bad(it is actually a great place,inLI) If you need the date or know anyone who might,please contact me. He wasn't abusive all along..it is a long story,I never would have gotten engaged if he displayed this behavior sooner..Good luck with your wedding.

Why dont you talk to a lawyer about it! I understand why a place wouldnt give you back your depsoits - but 70 - 75% thats crazy -

hi my dad told me that you need to get a police report and let them know this man was abusing you and have it in writing . if in case this hall claims they want to bill you for this you have the report stating they were advised and that the wedding was off because of an abusive replationship and that he hurt you . any judge in usa will wave the bill they give you and you dont have nothing to worry about it. i survived a real bad relationship and was married to a drunk before i made sure i put him in his place . make sure to get everything i writing and this hall you booked cannot tell you that . they are only mad because they lost commision .:
