I need help!

I need help!

Alright ladies, this is kinda long.....i'm having some almost buyer's remorse here, so i'm gonna need some help on this one. So here's my situation...after checking out a bunch of RH's last weekend, we decided we wanted to book at the Swan Club (my parents are going to drop off our deposit this weekend)...but now my mom and i are becoming slightly paranoid b/c we rarely see any reviews of it on here (we've both become pretty fanatic about liweddings). I've been getting such good advice and such great ideas anytime i ask anyone on here a question, so now when i barely see anyone that's booked there, it makes me question it. We got an amazing price for an absolutely GORGEOUS place and i think b/c i haven't seen the kind of reviews for it as i've seen for others (i.e., CLM, WM), it's giving me the 'too good to be true' feeling...i know, it prob seems like such a ridiculous thing to complain about (very 'my wallet's too big for my 50's and my diamond shoes are too tight!'), but since it is about 1/2 the budget, i just want to be sure we're making the right call.

So, what gives ladies? I think i need people to tell me that i'm not crazy, and i just really lucked out. If anyone has any feedback, hit me with it. If you've gone to see Swan Club in your RH searches, why didn't you book it? was it just b/c you found something else you liked better or was it something about the place that turned you off? And if you haven't checked it out, have you heard anything negative about it (like service or something)? I just want to be super excited once our place is booked and i don't think i can be if i'm continually second guessing it or waiting for the other shoe to drop. Help!

The Swan Club is amazing and weddings there are incredible! The price is right, the service is great, and the food is excellent!

The reason we didn't book is because we didn't love the room they offered us and that was the only room they could offer for our small-ish wedding. Also, they mentioned that other brides could be having their ceremony while we were having our reception and I really didn't want to risk seeing another bride on my wedding day. I know, I'm such a brat.

But it came down to the Swan Club and the RH I chose and it was TOUGH decision. The price was amazing and the people there were sooo accommodating. I know you'll have a TERRIFIC wedding there!

I see the Swan Club's name dropped on here all of the time! I never heard of it until this site.

I don't know if you already searched the Bride's Review board but I did and here are all of the reviews of the Swan Club!

WHEW, you just made me feel a ton better, thank you! And not to worry, wanting to be the only bride in a 5 mile radius on your wedding day def doesn't make you a brat, it makes you just like the rest of us!

I think if u are second guessing your decision you shouldnt book yet, wait check out other places and if you find yourself comparing everything to the SC then thats the place but if you are not sure hold off on booking for a little while

I almost booked somewhere then I said let me look at a few more places just in case and I went with a differnt RH and couldnt be happier with my decision and I have never second guessed it once HTH good luck

also liweddings is not the be all end all of weddings on long island. there are a lot of vendors that are not talked about on here that are fab. sometimes people forget that

The only thing I would watch out for is that they definitely do more than one wedding at a time...one of my colleagues said she went to a wedding there and they actually shared a CH with another wedding and it was awkward...I would have them explicitly write in the contract that this won't happen to you. Other than that, I have only heard great things about them...one of my friends has been to the Swan Club several times and lovvvvves it...I think she wanted to have her wedding there lol

edited to delete typo, I typed the same sentence twice

Im booked at SC and its the only place Fh & I checked out... The price was right, the grounds gorgeous (perfect for pic taking and not having to go to a separate location), the food was very good at both the tasting and the showcase they had earlier this yr... Feel free to ask me any questions... Very pleased them them thus far... They even made my mom feel very comfy when she called up with some questions had...

I dont remem seeing 1 bad review about the place... The only thing that turns me off is the size of the stalls in the bathroom.. They are not made for normal size people

Im having my ceremony there outdoors on the patio and my reception in the Camelot room

Re: I need help!

i visited the swan club.
here's my personal take on it (emphasis on personal):

pros: gorgeous grounds, lovely pavilion for outdoor wedding, good price.

cons: room was a bit small, no designated dj area (less dance floor space), hard to find! (none of my guests live in the area and i got lost twice trying to find it), price was good .....but not great. i went to fox hollow and their price was like $2 more per person and they gave me twice as much food AND they only have 2 events at a time. but thats a whole nother story cuz fox hollow has its own pros and cons lol.

i ended up going with another RH because my mom said she would help pay for the RH and wanted a place for 'one wedding' at a time.

would like to comment on the getting lost part... if you follow the directions on their site, they are extremely exact... down to the tenth of a mile...

That's what FH says too. I think my biggest worry is that we'll end up deciding we want it but it'll be too late and our date will be taken It's also difficult b/c we're out of state, so time to get back to ny to check places out is tough...evidently, wedding planning is not for the indecisive

They shared their CH with another wedding?! I've never heard of such a thing, that's definitely awkward. I'll have to check that part out.

Re: I need help!

I can't comment on the Swan Club, but i was very torn in our RH between two places and i guess at the same time i was not 100% with either one. The price was right at both and we liked both but we were not blown away i was very focused on budget so i thought at the time i would need to settle. We then decided to look at a few RH that were a more money and we both fell in love with our RH from the monment we walked in and in the long run it was only about 5-10 more and we were both 100% happy. So i guess my point is still look, you have nothing to loss.

ur talking to miss indecisive herself. another way to look at it is if your dat eis taken when you are ready to book is maybe it wasnt meant to be. Just be sure its where u want your big day to be trust me you will know the secind you walk in to your RH if it is the one

Yeah, the bathroom thing was definitely weird...i'm not quite sure how my larger relatives are going to fare with that part. I think the only things we didn't get to see while we were there were the chapel (which looks beautiful in the pics) and the bridal suites, since they were all being used at the time. We also didn't get to try the food, so i won't really know how it is till we go home again at the end of november. How are the bridal suites (i'm assuming that's plural, since there's more than 1 wedding)? I just hate this whole second guessing stuff, it's very frustrating
