I need help ... help me make my 1/2 bath beautiful! (pics)

Original post by melissa27

We just moved in 6 weeks ago and this bathroom is driving me nuts because it is SOOOO plain. I need ideas: color, textures, etc. What should I do? It is SO dull! Right now, the walls are like a grayish/taupe color and the floor is beige/grayish. The floor is ceramic, so we won't be changing that.

I was thinking of painting it a light lavendar, but is that too boring? I really want to liven it up!! Thanks for looking.

I have to agree w/the other ladies...I'd punch it up with accessories and artwork and leave the walls neutral.

You could buy a large decorative urn for the floor in the corner across from the toilet and fill it with beautiful silk florals - any kind of greenery adds 'life' to a room - especially one that doesn't have any natural light!

Thats what I was going to say....Then a few paintings on the walls....Some bright and cheery towels, rug, soap dish etc....

Add Texture to Neutral Bathroom Tones

Surface textures and an intriguing leaded-glass window bring character and depth to this neutral bathroom.

A white color scheme can produce a restful, refreshing bath setting, but it also can become boring. This bath sidesteps a plain-Jane existence with lots of texture and decorative details. A wainscot of painted beadboard is sandwiched between a wide molding at the floor and a chair rail. The top sections of the walls are painted soft yellow. At the foot of the tub, a privacy wall is treated to the same wainscot and moldings but topped with a pane of leaded glass. The geometric design and sparkle of the leaded glass energize the space without interrupting the creamy scheme.

Handsome wide moldings frame the window, which is covered with wide-slat Venetian blinds. The mirror that stretches across the sink vanity also is trimmed with wood. On the floor, a patterned rug in pale blue adds a quiet note of color contrast. So does the unfinished occasional table in front of the privacy wall.
