I need help (Please DO NOT ignore this post!!)

I need help (Please DO NOT ignore this post!!)

I posted on Friday about how I found my dream dress at Bridal Couture of Manhasset. Then I read all the posts about this place and I would say about 3/4ths are not so good. I went back there yesterday to get a more detailed receipt, because my dress will actually be a combo of two Eugenia dresses. Needless to say I think that they were rude, whereas on Friday they could not kiss my A@$ more. Does anyone have a good story about this place? I mean my dress vendor is the last place that I want to worry about. I could call the bank and cancel the check since I gave it to them yesterday and there is no way it would have gone through by now. Only prob is that I gave them 150 cash(which is written on my receipt) on Friday, so I would have to fight over that. PLease tell me what you would do and any experience you have had with this place. I am so nervous about this now and for all I know this could all work out fine, but I do not need someone to be rude to me when I am spending over 4k in their store !!!

I don't have a positive story and both myself and a close friend of mine had HORRIBLE experiences with them. My friend is in the midst of a lawsuit...
My advice is, don't do it!! There's way too much proof of that shop having very poor business ethics to risk giving them that much $$.
All my best to you! I know whatever you opt to do, it'll work out great in the end and your dress will be lovely!

Hi - this may not be exactly what you're looking for in terms of advice, but the Bridal Suite of Manhattan also carries Eugenia dresses, and they are extremely nice. I have only heard good things about them, and almost bought a Eugenia dress drom them myself.

I don't know anything about this vendor. I would say maybe call and find out when the owner/manager is and and sit down and express your concerns. A tip I got also, it lie about your wedding date, tell them it is about 4-6 weeks before the actual date. If you already told them, tell them you made a mistake on the date- tell them its your FH's b-day or something.

Good luck and go with your gut.

This is a tough call...I have nothing to say about this store because I've never dealt with them, however I have been to many a bridal dress shop where the ladies were rude...it's amazing to me that there are soooooooooooooooo many stores like this.

As you said, we spend sooo much money in them, how do they have the nerve to be rude!!!

I would relax though...I have read posts where many good things were said too...and since so many people have purchased their gowns there, something about this place may be good...it's just like Kleinfeld's in Brooklyn...there are so many mixed reviews about this store, but it's like a mecca...people from all over come to Kleinfeld's for their dresses...however when I was there a few years ago for BM's dresses when I was in my friends wedding...we were not given the treatment I thought we deserved.

I would just try not to let the detailed receipt incident get you down...let it roll off your back...you're going to be so happy with your dress.

You may want to also check their record on the Better Business Bureau's website. I also had a horrible experience with them personally would not want to do business with them. Good luck!

Just adding my two cents here.

Do you know if the salesgirls are on commission there? If yes, I would talk to the girl who sold you the dress and explain your concerns. I doubt if she would want to lose you now. Maybe you can deal with her in the future, and not deal with the one at the desk.

I would advise you and other girls to NOT order tiaras from there. My daughter-in-law's sister paid over $500 for hers, expecting her younger sister to wear it. In three years it turned yellow and the younger one had to buy another tiara. She was told there was nothing that could be done and they hardly paid attention to her.

The salesgirl that helped me very nicely on Friday is the one who gave me the attitude yesterday when I went there. She was the one who I had write all the extras on the receipt.

I purchased my dress with them. I have been to four fittings so far. They have not given me a problem or said that only three fittings are allowed. They have been accomodating and never once canceled my fitting appointments. I choose not to pay the alterations until the dress was completely altered, and never had a problem about them asking or pressuring me to do it. I sometimes think people react to attitude. Some girls are so stressed out about all the wedding preparations, that they take it out on other people. I have not once gotten an attitued or become a brazzilla bride with them, so in return I have been treated with respect and they have been very accomodating with me. My opinion is, if you love your dress and may not be able to get it anywhere else, get it there. Good Luck.

I shoped there for my wedding dress and found them to be a bit uppity... BUT my S-I-L got her bridesmaid dresses there... and I went there often for fittings, etc, and they were nothing but nice to me. I was pleasantly surprised. I think it depends on who is waiting on you, there is one older woman who when I asked for a tissue practically sneered at me (how dare I have a runny nose in her store!) but eveyone else there I found to be quite nice.

Hi!
I feel your pain!
I went their and I happend to be there on a trunk show day for some guy named Daniel somthing and needless to say I was not interested in in his line. I told the girl what I wanted to try on and she never brought it in! I asked her by the 3rd dress where they were and she said to me Ill bring them in I want you to take advantage of Daniel while he is here and see his line. I told her I was not interested in his line and wanted to see the dresses I picked out.
So she got them for me!
Then to top it off she comes in with a dress and tells me my mother wanted me to try on and I said to her she is my mohter in law and that I was shocked b/c she knows i HATE pearls...
So she responds to me 'Why do u have your mother in law with you? Wouldnt you rather have your OWN mother???
So i turned to her and said well my mother is busy today and i brought my mother in law b/c i love her and value her opinion. So she does not get the hint and continues on that she would not bring her mother in law only her mom b/c it's not her place!
Boy was I ****ed! I came out of the room with this gorgeous dress on and a face that I was gonna strangle this *****! My mother in law was like smile whats wrong?? So i said to her why did u want me to try the one with pearls? She said I told her you would not like it and NOT to bring it to you...only to find out it was the most expensive dress in the store.....they lied to me!!!!!!!
Uhhh...GET YOUR $$$ back,..I saw your post the other day about the dress (2 dresses) and i did not want to tell you b/c some people have different experiences! But take it as a sign!
And dont settle for the 1st dress you see! Just my advice. If you want nice people go nexxt door to bridal salon of manhasset they were sweet to $$$ for me but so nice! I bought mine in Kleinfields!
Good luck and keep us all posted!
If you need help getting your $$ back I will be glad to come over there and kick the **** out of all them!!
lol
J/K
Ok! GOod luck!!!

I don't have a personal experience with them, but my friend is in a wedding and her BM dress came from there. I haven't heard her complain once about the place or their work. Plus, she was prego at the time they ordered the dress, they measured what they could of her, and when the dress came in, it only took one fitting and then she went and brought it home.

My personal opinion is, most bridal places, well most places in general that work off of comission are filled with really 'FAKE' individuals. If they have already made the sale their fakeness is gone and their real personality comes through. Unfortuantely you are buying and item and not necessarily a service (besides the fittings, etc.) so you may run into a few snobs along the way. My main concern would be gettign the dress in on time and the fitting working out. I think it is a good idea to stretchthe tructh a bit with the weddign date to have the dress in on time.

if you go with them maybe you can take out wedding insurance... it would pay out if you have a problem...

I never went there....but I have heard the negative comments...

IMHO I think the $150 and cancelled check fee may be worth the agita...

my bridal shop was nothing but great to me through the entire process!!

If you can get the dress elsewhere, I would. I had a bad experience with them and there are over 15 complaints with the Better Business Bureau about them.
If you happen to lose money, it may be worth it bc at least you'll have peace of mind.

I don't have any experience with this store, but I agree with Yabbobay and Threetwenty. I would rather lose than $$ than deal with the headaches later on.

Good Luck

I have to agree also. If you can get the dress someplace else, it would be worth losing a bit of money to avoid major dress trauma closer to your wedding date. If they are the only ones who can do it for you, bite the bullet, get everything in writing.

Good lcuk!

Re: I need help (Please DO NOT ignore this post!!)

I bought my dress there and didn't have any major problems with them at all. I loved my dress and after trying on over 50 dresses and not finding the one - the first one I tried on there I feel in love with and bought it on the spot. Before I bought my dress there (Feb of 02 for my Oct 02 wedding), I hadn't heard all the bad stories I now hear on this site. I just heard it was snobby. But a friend of my mom's highly recommended it so I tried it out because i was having no luck elsewhere.

My salesperson was very sweet and very helpful. My seamstress did a fine job and was nice but there was another seamstress there that I wish was assigned to me because she seemed even better she kept giving my seamstress recommendations because my bustle was a difficult one. But everyone else was snobby and rude. I didn't have a couple brief arguments with them nothing major - but I felt they no longer treated me like a customer once I purchased my dress (except my saleswoman who one worked parttime so wasn't there much!)

What I can say is they ordered my dress in a timely fashion (I emailed my mfg to make sure!), my dress was altered with no issue, my dress was everything I wanted! The customer service was just lacking! FM me if you need anymore info!

Good Luck to you!
