I need help.... seriously (honest opinions needed)

FH & and I have been struggling with what I should do about my secondary education after the wedding. I am getting my B.S. in may & was originally considering Law School. People in my field are reccommending that an MBA may be more useful & that I can always go back to law school later if I want that knowledge too.

I AM 30! There is no later, especially if we want to have kid. (yes Kid, only 1!)

NOW I am thinking of pursuing a combined JD, MBA, but I have just barely begun to study for the LSAT & the GMAT.... The tests are both in September..... DO I HAVE ENOUGH TIME????

My suggestion - make time and get the combined degree. I work for a corporate legal department and let me tell you that I know from experience that a combined business/jd degree will give you a much larger range of options. One of my very close friends got the combined degree and he absolutely loves his job, the money he makes and his freedom to move around his company more easily. JMO - you have to do what's right for you. Good luck in whatever you decide

I have take both the LSAT and the GMAT.. the LSAT is more something where you don't need to study, you need to learn HOW to take the test....

With the GMAT you need to study things like algebra, beginning Calc and geometry...

I dont know much about law school..but Im working on my masters and Im 32..My masters is in family therapy and there is only limited things I can do with this degree..its the path Ive chosen and I love it..HOWEVER..with your MBA..you can do just about ANYTHING..especially with a joint degree..I may even still have a GMAT and LSAT study cd roms..( I took he GRE's and my packet came with the other two..) If I still have them..I will give them to you..teher alittle old, but Im told these tests dont change..I think mines a princeton review. It helped me alot, but the GRE's wereent so hard. Its a big decision, but if you want to have children soon like I do..its a hard decision.

I know it looks like I cant spell..I really can..I just try to type faster than Im really capable of and I forget to fix my errors..sorry about taht!

I think only you can make this decision. There is A LOT of money on the table with getting both or either of these degrees, not to mention time. You will just be getting married, and your time and priorities do change.
If your dream is to be a lawyer, then become a lawyer. I wouldn't get my MBA just because- honestly with the unemployment rate right now I know plently of out of work MBAs. So you should ONLY do what will fulfill your dreams.

That's the thing... I don't want to be a litigating attorney... My primary goal is to work for a brand imaging and management company.... but with alll of the inellectual property & compyright cases these days, my 'Advisor' (who is actually not school related, he is someone who works in the field) has suggested that getting a law degree may be beneficial to me & my clients, and I definately agree.

In all honesty, I do not really NEED an MBA for my field, it just helps & betters my chances of a good salary, promotions & such.

Actually to work in Branding- especially if you want to be a Brand Manager for a major consumer product you do need your MBA... I am currently going to school to get my MBA in Marketing for this purpose. I used to be a recruiter for marketing/branding professionals and all the top dogs on the client end always had MBAs (the brand managers)... however, if you want to work @ an agency, you don't necessarily have to have the MBA.

OK, so I checked Yale & Columbias websites, as well as NYU (my choices in order from 1st) & they all have the MBA/JD combined offered & I still have time to do all my stuff for early admissions.

Thanks Gals..... hopefully next year I will be B -ee-tching about grad school!
