I will be having my reception in Chateau Briand (located in Carle Place, LI--Westbury) in May 2011. I want to have the ceremony in a Catholic church nearby the RH, but I am having a hard time finding one that will marry us (being that we are not 'members'). I don't like the feeling of getting married at a RH's chapel, but that would be a choice if I was forced to do so. Can anyone help me with the following question?:
Do you know any Catholic churches nearby or surrounding area that can marry a couple regardless of them being a 'member'?

St. Brigid's is on Post Avenue in Westbury just minutes away from Chateau Briand. I don't know if they allow non-parishioners to get married there or not.

Thanks so far!
I tried St. Brigids and they mentioned they don't allow 'non-members'. I will start trying these suggestions after Easter! :o)

My church will marry non-parishioners. It's Holy Name of Mary in Valley Stream.
You can also try:
St. Catherine in Franklin Square St. Patrick's in Glen Cove

Re: I NEED help with church (Catholic)
I really don't think Catholic churches marry non-members. I know a couple people who have joined parishes before their wedding so they could get married there. I see your wedding is in 2011, so maybe you'd want to consider becoming a member of the church you want to get married in. I think you need to be a member of the church for a year.

Re: I NEED help with church (Catholic)
There is a church on Franklin Ave in Garden City take old country road to franklin ave and make a left go past lord and taylor it should be on your right hand side
See if they can do it
****side note can't you become a parish member now so that you can be married there or do you have to live in the area?****

You can try St. Barnabas in Bellmore. I believe all you need is to show proof of your baptism

We're having our reception at Chateau Briand and our ceremony at St. Edwards in Syosset. I'm not sure if they marry non-members, but you can ask them. FH is a member and I'm not. Good luck.
Maria Regina in Seaford on Jerusalem Ave. notes different fees for parishoners and non so they should be willing to do the ceremony.

Re: I NEED help with church (Catholic)
I'm not sure if they take non-members, but try Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Hicksville (would be about 10-15 minutes away).
I was so upset about St. Brigid's not allowing non-members...We used to be parishoners but changed when I had changed catholic grammar schools a long time ago. My parents were married there, I was baptized there, made my communion there, and my grandmother is buried in the cemetary right next door...and I can't get married there

Re: I NEED help with church (Catholic)
Everyone...thank you so much thus far. We will definitely look into these choices and keep everyone updated (in case someone else has the same dilemma). I will welcome any additional thoughts, if any more out there!
By the way, I am very sorry to hear about your situation with St. Brigids. I understand how upsetting that may be. Good luck with the rest of your wedding plans!
