I need help with wording on my wedding invitations!

I need help with wording on my wedding invitations!

I am looking on this great website for wording. I like the more formal approach. Something like:

Bride's parents request the honour of your presence at...blah blah blah.. but the thing is I only have one parent (my mom) wouldn't it look strange to have just my mom's name on them?

or perhaps something more simple like this:

Together with their parents
BRIDE
and
GROOM
request the honour of your presence
at their marriage
on DAY
YEAR
at TIME
LOCATION
ADDRESS
CITY, STATE

I just think the parents names should be mentioned though don't you agree?
My FH has two sets of parents so I am stumped on how this would look on the invites.. Any suggestions?

I don't think it would look weird to have just your mom's name on the invitation at all, lots of brides and grooms do that. You could put 'together with their parents' but if you really want their names on it then how about:

Ms. Anne Smith
together with
Mr. & Mrs. John Doe
and
Mr. & Mrs. Mark Jones
request the honour of your presence at the marriage of their children
YOU
and
YOUR FI
blah blah blah....

I'm having the same problem. My Mom is paying for a good portion of the reception and My FH's Mom isn't paying for anything. My Mom doesn't want me to word the invitation so people think both families are paying for the reception.
I don't want to insult his family by only having my Mom's name on the invitation. I thought the invitations would be an easy decision. I was wrong!

FH and i went back and forth on this issue alot--you'd think it wouldn't be that hard to word the invites! we are paying for our entire wedding...but i sensed that my mom wanted us to do a traditional wording with my folk's names on it--but i really didn't want to put my FH's parents on there, because a) they are married--but not together and would have to put their names separately and b)his father hates me and i just didn't want his name on there.

so i didn't want to put JUST my parents, and not his, cause that would be yet ANOTHER thing his dad could talk smack about me for--so in the end--we decided to put NO ONE's names on there...but FH and mine.

to not ruffle feathers--i'd just put your names on there and word it was 'together with their parents' or 'together with their families'

I wanted to write 'together with our parents', but my Mom says than insinuates that my FH's side of the family is paying for the wedding also. She also said the invitation doesn't have to have her name on it. (But, I think she would really like it to) She wants the invitation to say something like 'With joyful hearts, we request the honor of your presence at the wedding of.....' Does that sound ok to you? I appreciate your advice. This has been a fight for the last 3 days.

Re: I need help with wording on my wedding invitations!

OMG, thank god you girls brought this up! I was just thinking the same THING!

My family is helping us and his father is paying a portion as well. His mother has not offered to help at all. Actually she stated 'I will not be contributing to any part of the planning' I don't remember if those where her exact words, this is was FH told me. In any event, here is another tricky situation. I was brought up by my Aunt at certain times in my life and my mom.. my mom's boyfriend has been like a dad to me for years.. My Aunt is paying a large portion as well as my mom.. I believe my mom's BF is giving us a large gift. SO... how the heck am I going to word the invites NOW? OHH god I feel the anxiety approaching!! Can someone please help me!??
