i need HONEST opinions please help!! (long)

please tell me how you really feel, even if it's not what i want to hear.

you might remember last week i posted that i would really love to have an e-pic shoot at shea stadium. i told my brother about it and he was all excited and thought it was a great idea.

the other day he was all excited and he told me that his friend works at shea, and can make the e-shoot happen!! i was soooooooo happy until i heard the rest of it...and it really made me feel upset. but i can't decide if i'm being selfish...so here it is...

my brother asked me to wait to take our e-pics until october/november. i stopped him and told him i had planned on taking them sooner, since we are getting married memorial day weekend and i want to give people a year's notice. he then told me why he wants me to wait. he says this way, we can go for our e-pics and they can bring their baby and take a pic of him at at shea stadium for the birth announcement.

...so basically what he's saying is, his baby's birth announcement is going to go out of the baby at shea...
and then a few weeks later we are going to send out our save the dates of us...at shea. it was my idea...i wanted to have pics of us there for a whole shoot. i wanted to use those pics for guest book.

the reason i feel like i have nothing i can say about this is because guess what they are naming their baby. SHEA! so i can't tell them i don't want them to do it, b/c it's going to be their KID's NAME!! but my SIL says that she is NOT naming the baby after shea stadium, she just likes that name.

i am really upset about this, but i don't know if i'm overreacting.

pleeeeeeeeeease...tell me the truth, would you be upset or would you think it was fun for everyone's announcement to be at shea??

Ditto, infact I would think it was ever more so special that the baby and my e pics were taken at same place and same time.... I think its sweet

I agree with you...How about just telling them nicely that you are doing a memorial day wedding and NEED to send out STD's alot sooner than that and cant afford to wait that long, and although you would love to theres just no possibility

i agree. your getting married on a holiday...so the yr mark is totally acceptable its not like ure just being unreasonable...so u shouldnt have to wait for them. besides it was your idea just be nice about it.

i could totally understand why that would bother you. i know it would bother me, especially since yo uhad the idea and wanted to give people notice about the wedding a year in advance. But what I dont understand is if your brother's friend is able to get you the pics at Shea Stadium why cant he have his friend reserve a time for you to go soon and then for your brother to go when he has his baby daughter!!!

I guess a compromise is in there somewhere haha

but i know i would probably be upset even though it isnt the end of the world...but i am stubborn and when i have an idea i hate if someone IN MY FAMILY trys to do it before me haha since i had the idea i would want to be the first one to do it....

its a tough decision to make but like i said maybe compromise somehow??!!

thank you so much for all of your support. it makes me feel a lot better to know i'm not being ridiculous. i feel a lot better, and more confident now to tell him how i feel and know i'm not just being an idiot about it.

random question...if theyre not naming the baby because of the stadium or the mets...why do they have to take pics there?

oh hell's no!! i would be pissed too. it was ur idea to begin with. i hope it all works out for u. and btw...doesnt he realize u are already engaged and shouldnt have to wait 7 months to take pics???

ugg that just s*cks!! its sooo annoying when you have an idea in your head and something like that ruins it!!!

Ok, it was your idea, but they are naming their kid 'Shea.' And without your brother's friend, you probably wouldn't be able to get in there at all. So, I would let them do their baby pictures there in October, and maybe you can find another place to do your pictures sooner, so you can send them out in May. How about you and FH wearing Mets jerseys? Or hiring Mr. Met to take the pictures with? Just my 2 cents worth. Wherever you take your e-pics, I'm sure they'll be great!!

I would be upset too! I dont blame you because waiting 6 months is a long time! Also, what if they decide to not name the baby Shea, its so far away they may come up with a new name and then you waited for nothing! You do need his friend but at the same time it was your idea and I would be really upset if his announcement got to the family before your STD.
