What would any of you do if someone from your FH's side....a relative (not too close) got engaged 2 weeks ago and thinking about the possibilty of booking their wedding the same day as you and AT THE SAME HALL..in the other room.....how would you handle this...or take it??????

I would be pissed.
Not to mention the person must not be thinking because there is no way you can force FH's relatives to choose which wedding to go to. Can you picture people running back and forth between rooms? Pretty stupid, if you ask me.
I'm sure FH's family would let them know what a foolish idea it is.

Re: I need opinions
WHAT?????????? NO!! THEY CAN'T!!!
i am not one for telling people what they can or can't do b/c it is my wedding but I would have a real problem there. No way. It is unfair to ask of you and the guests. Sorry, they need to pick a date well off from yours!!!
btw: someone needs to tell them if they haven't yet figured it out for themselves.

Re: I need opinions
ok see...the thing is they are not a close relative....in fact the only people that would have been invited were my FH's parents...which of corse would not go b/c obviously their son's wedding is MORE important...there would proably not be any other mutual guests....but it is the fact that we have had our wedding booked for sooo long...Got engaged 6/04 and now they got engaged not even 2 weeks ago and want to get married on the same day and in the same hall...I am not sure about that...it seems so rude...but am i jumping the gun???

Re: I need opinions
see I originally thought it was bad enough that they were looking for the same day as us, but then when i found out that it was the SAME HALL i was like, 'WHAT????!!!' I cannot believe that some people would have the audacity to do something that rude....Am i nuts??? please be honest with me?

No you are not nuts!!!
FH's cousin just got engaged last month and even though they are getting married in another STATE and only some of the guests would be the same, they are waiting at least a year out of courtesy to us.
I changed my original plan because my brother told me he had a wedding in September, so I changed it out of courtesy to my brother.
It is called common courtesy and also common sense!!

Re: I need opinions
I would have FH (or other family member) contact this person (or their parents) and tell them that they are rude and committing a HUGE social no-no. It is one thing to pick the same hall, (let's face it, we all have hall twins)it is one thing to pick the same date, (we all have date twins as well, but those date twins are not our family/friends) but to do both is just completely over the top obnoxious!!! Give me a break, most girls flip out when a family member who gets engaged second picks an earlier wedding date. For this person to do this just completely reaks of lack of social grace!!!

I agree. Something similar was going on with us and FH father spoke to this couple's parents and told them it was totally unacceptable behavior. They got the hint after 3 phone calls and changed their date to October now. I'd send them a book on ettiquete.

I agree, someone needs to contact this person and set them straight. That is so weird. Why would someone do that?

Re: I need opinions
i would be pissed off too. that's just tacky. why would they want to do that anyway? i'd want my wedding to be somewhere totally different!
guess you might have to deal with the fact that it may happen...but if it does...just remember that YOU had the place first, and your wedding will have a bit more class.
