I need opinions on Scanners

Ladies please share with me the type of scanners that you have, ie the brand and the cost. I am on the hunt for a really good one.

We have a Lexmark printer/scanner. We are happy with it so far.

we just got a canon n670u from pc richards. it was 80 bucks. not sure if i would recommend it yet, still trying to figure out how to use it.

I'm a web designer and I've used a lot of scanner. I reccomend Epson scanners. I have an Epson Perfection 1250SU (I think) and it has always given me good quality scans at good speeds. I haven't used any of the Canon ones but they have seemed pretty flimsy in the stores.

I always recommend anything by Microtek when it comes to scanners. (I'm an IT person). We use them in our marketing department.

I bought a home scanner for about $100 in Best Buy and it suits my needs (basically to share photos with my LI Wedding buddies). I have the ScanMaker 4800.

Another vote for the Epson scanner...it's an upgrade for us. We used to have a Canon, but the Epson has the ability to scan negatives...this IS SO COOL!

I just noticed this NWR board

Here is my response from the other side:

Well Shamma, I think you like mine.
It's a Visioneer 4400, and it uses PaperPort software, which I like a lot, and it scans GREAT. My brother bought it for me, but I'm pretty sure it was $59.

Even though they are good scanners, a friend of mine had 2 microtek scanners break on him...

I guess he must've flipped them the wrong way when he was moving and the lights inside made all sorts of grinding noises and wouldn't scan at all. So if you have to move, make sure the scanner lays flat inside a box and doesn't get jolted around. Most scanners come with a small plastic key that keeps them secure when moving also. Remember to save that when you do buy one.

Thanks all. I will look in to all your recommendation. Not having a scanner and having such beautiful proofs is driving me batty

Jen I could just dream now couldn't I. Maybe I could meet up with Liz like I did the last time and have her scan them. She scanned our engagement pix and they were so beautiful. I will see probably by this weekend

It depends on your computer. Old computers may not have a usb port which most new scanners/ peripherals use to hook up to your computer.

Older computers would need to hook up parallel port or a scsi card. I am not sure how many new scanners come equipped wih that.
