Ok, as some of you may already know me and FH are looking into houses and we found one that we absolutely love (pics in album)..ok here is my question. Wedding is next year in July about 10mths away...but I love the house...I know that it takes about 5mths or so for bank approval, lawyers and everything to go through...what should I do in the mean time..do you guys think that houses stay on the market for a while. Any girls here who have brought a house have any opinions or suggestions ...I am already picturing myself in this house...and I dont want my hopes to be broken

I think Real Estate can go either way. You might get lucky and the house could still be for sale but maybe not.
Also, with the market now, you probably have a better chance that it will be on the market down the road.

Yea. thats what I was thinking..its a buyers market they say...I just love it so much!..the real estate agent (on the sellers side) said 7 people have gone to see the house...but no buyers...I hope it stays like that for a few more months hehe...

Re: I need some advice- on buying a home
it really depends on how much you like the house.. it seems like you really like it... it is possible that someone else can snag it if you don't act on it. And then again it could still be for sale 6 months from now... but if i were you i would take the steps to get approved and make an offer if you really are in love with the house that much... Good luck!

Yea..me and FH are going to start going to some banks and try to get approved..but even if we get approved I cant buy the house now It will just be a monthly mortage that would be pointless being that none of us can live in it now ...

The area that it is in, are there any colleges or anything close by? You could buy it now and try to rent it out on a short term lease, like 6 months or so. That would ensure that you get the house you want but it wouldn't just be sitting there vacant.

would they go for a deposit with a longer closing period? we found our house in january, were preapproved for the amount, set our closing for april and moved in the same day we closed...can u postpone the closing? are they willing to do that for you?

why would it take five months for bank approval?? that seems like quite a long time!

not true. yes you won't be living there, but you're gonna OWN the place (so exciting!) so it's not like the money's going to waste. if you were renting yes, but owning, never. besides, you can always rent it out for a bit (like someone ^ said).

You girls make excellent points. I guess it depends on the montly mortage payment...I mean we could probably get approved for a bank loan but then we probably afford the montly payments just yet...I just hope they dont sell it anytime soon. BTW it is located upstate new york..and I ALSO LOVE THE KITCHEN!!! Its actually why i feel in love haha.

I don't own a home and I'm no where near being in the position to even look for one...but the house looks beautiful, and the kitchen...as someone who loves to cook...would sell the house to me too
