I need some advice...major vent

Original post by allisonk

A couple a days ago I posted this:

My FH father wants his sister( FH aunt) and her 2 daughters (FH cousins) walking down the aisle, but they are not in the wedding.

Is this unusual, or do other family members walk down as well sometimes?

I really dont want them to...only because they are not in the wedding. I thought it was a little weird.

Am I making it too much of a big deal?

A day later:
My FH said' fine we'll just have my aunt walk'... and i said 'fine'

Now hes telling me that I should let them walk...reason being, because my cousins are.
But they're in the wedding...
I dont know what to do??? I m so upset

That is odd.

Maybe you can have them hand our programs or something instead.

while it is out of the ordinary - especially if you dont agree about it - i am having my aunt and uncle walk. HOWEVER it is because my grandma cant walk alone cause she'll fall or she might have to be pushed in a wheelchair. but i think i would want them to walk anyway cause they are my closest relatives...
so i think its odd if you dont really want them to and your FH isnt close to them. however if he is i would just let it be.

That is really strange. Is there any other way they could be involved....handing out programs, readings, prayers, blessing, handing out petal cones, etc.
Or maybe they can be escorted down as one of the last people like a grandparent normally is.

I agree this sounds unusual for a typical American wedding. Have you explained that not even the bride and groom's parents walk down the aisle with the wedding party--that they are typically escorted prior to the ceremony?

Why not have the ushers escort them in before the actual ceremony starts.

This is a good idea.
