I need some honest opinions on cruise lines for HM

FH and I want to go on a cruise for our HM. Ive been on Celebrity before and loved it but I wanna do something different this time. What cruise lines wowed you or didn't, were did you go, what places did you love and hate. I've looked on websites and they all look great, I need some real opinions.

Thanks Girls!

I second Princess. We did Carnival in the past, which was horrible. We also did Disney, which was incredible but expensive.

The Princess cruise that we did was a southern cruise out of Puerto Rico. I've never had a better time. I highly recommend it!

Re: I need some honest opinions on cruise lines for HM

I loved Royal carribean and in particular Adventures of the Seas.

Its an amazing largest cruize ship, and there is SO much to do just on the ship itself.

Re: I need some honest opinions on cruise lines for HM

I was extremely disapointed with Carnival. The best one that I have taken was Royal Carribean. They were fabulous.

Also be careful if you're considering Carnival...in terms of the 'Fun Ship' many of the activities are geared children. So it may be fun for the kids but not for adults

Re: I need some honest opinions on cruise lines for HM

i have been on the carnival triumph, and royal caribbean's explorer of the seas and navigator of the seas. i need a HUGE ship, i dont want any chance of motion sickness lol, and they are also much newer and in great shape. carnival was actually really great, more of a party ship than royal carib. the food was awesome too! Royal carib. is sooo pretty, the service is great, the ships are new and huge and the food was also great! it was a bit older of a crowd (average age probably upper 30's low 40's), and that fit us perfectly. we're not super into crazy partying, and its nice not feeling like youre on spring break which is kind of how carnival was. we go the same time every year, last week in feb., so time of year wasnt a factor. either way i would highly recommend either cruise line, as we had nothing but great experiences with both!

edited to add ports of call.....

we did western carib twice, grand cayman, jamaica and cozumel. we loveee grand cayman, stingray city is so cool. jamaica's dunns river falls are amazing, but its kind of scary walking out of there. cozumel has great shopping. the first time we did horse back riding, which was ok. the second we did a shopping day and it was so fun!

we also did eastern carib.
the bahamas, it was ok coming in from the ship, i have been there before but stayed for a week at a resort, the port is kind of run down. definitely makes the bahamas seem unattractive, nothing like near the hotel area (obviously)
st. thomas i loveddddd. its where we found my e ring (he got it 6 mos after i fell in love with it w/o me knowing!!) really pretty island, and again great shopping! we did the helicopter tour of the island and it was amazing
st. martin was great, orient beach is sooo beautiful! watch out for the naked old men though lol
puerto rico non of us liked, at least from the cruise point of view. next time we will stay on the ship!

HTH!

Re: I need some honest opinions on cruise lines for HM

I would definitely say Royal Carribbean. The service, the food, the activities were all out of this world.

I went on the Royal Caribbean Explorer of the Seas...long story short, we all hated it. Enough so that we have sworn off cruises for good.

Re: I need some honest opinions on cruise lines for HM

carnival was horrible(not a party boat like they say). I hear the princess is a great cruise line, but definitley do not go on carnival. The food was ok but i ended up eating burgers and fries the whole week and we only got to go to one of our 2 destinations because they were huge swells(waves) that wouldn't permit us to get to one of our islands. The other we we went to Mexico which was nice because we went on an amazing tour into these caverns but i would not recommend this cruise line at all

Re: I need some honest opinions on cruise lines for HM

went on carnival destiny- it was fun for a trip with the girls but not for hm... my opinion. it was also small for me- i got a little bit of motion sickness.

went on royal carib. adventure of the seas and it was amazing! i would go again in a minute! it was huge and i didnt feel sick at all! we left from san juan and hit the southern carib. went to st. thomas, aruba, st. maartin and curaco! Curaco was ok- st thomas was wonderful and aruba and st. martin was amazing!

i heard the food is better on celebrity.

also- i was going to suggest one of the smaller more intimate lines like windstar- i think thats one of them- but you said you wanted a big ship!

i def. reccomend the aventure of the sea!

Re: I need some honest opinions on cruise lines for HM

Will NEVER go on Princess again. I got locked in a bathroom ( another passenger got locked in the SAME bathroom an hour before and they did not fix the stall and I got locked in too! You would think an even Out of order sign... NOTHING!) and they did not come to help me, a fellow passenger helped me, she got me out with a butter knife after 1/2 hour! I am know claustrophobic, and they also put our safety at risk on 2 shore excursions. I loved the Norweign Dawn. I heard Royal Carribbean is great as well as some celebrity ships. Hope this helps!
