We were supposed to pick a photographer and music this summer but...the summer is almost over and we haven't looked at anyone yet. We did manage to get some registering in, though, which was totally unnecessary. I know I have to get this done, but it is so daunting of a task! And there are too many to choose from and I don't want to make that commitment to spending so much money!

you still have time- your wedding is over a year away- enjoy the rest of the summer and get started after labor day- it's too nice on the weekend to be running from appiontment to appiontment-

Why don't you just do some research for now, and make a list of who you want to see. Make appointments for Sept. and October. You have a lot of time still, I wouldn't worry too much. Delegate yourself one vendor a month. That worked out really well for us!

If your on a budget hear are some ideas to help you out. First does your reception offer house venders? They may have a some very affordable and highly qualified people to perform theses task. Don't be affarid to ask. Second if you really want to save a fortune on photography, only ask for negatives. Go to the craigs list They have DJs, bands, and photographers all willing to give you good work for less pay. Check them out! You'll save a lot time and money.

You have plenty of time (but don't let it go out further than October b/c you don't want to risk them all being booked up.)
You should definitely start with a budget for what you want to spend on your photographer and your DJ and STICK TO IT - don't even consider looking at anyone outside of your budget. I know it's so hard to do, but remember that there are some FANTASTIC vendors out there that are really affordable. You don't necessarily have to pay a lot to get a lot - common misconception!
If you'd like - I have a list of photographers under 2K - my photographer is 1.5K and gives you a lot - she's photojournalist, and her portfolio is online.
I also have a list of DJ's for under 1K (reception only b/c that's all I needed) I'm using Vinny from High Voltage Sounds, and he's very affordable and does phenominal work!

Thanks for the advice ladies...this weekend is my ONLY free weekend of this whole summer what with 5 weddings, bachelorette parties, showers, birthdays etc. and I would LOVE to just chill out. So I will look into the places you have recommended and start setting up appointments for after labor day. Having a plan makes me feel better!
