I need to quit smoking!!

I am only a social smoker (smoke when I drink) but I know it must be very difficult.

I know a few people who quit using smoke enders. It is a program that helps you break the habit of quitting both physically and psychologically. You don't quit smoking right away, you gradually decrease.

For example they tell you to switch the brand of cigarette you smoke...one guy who used to smoke Marlboro Reds switched to Capris (he really wanted to quit), so when he wanted to have a cig at work he would have to pull out a pack of capris and smoke it outside in front of other people...totally embarassing.

I am not sure how much it costs, but they have a website.

My father has had 2 occurences of bladder cancer over the past couple of years. Thank God he is currently cancer-free.

I recently spoke with someone who was a smoker for 50+ years, as much as 4 PPD at certain times. He quit in September and has been smoke-free ever since. He used the COMMIT system, which he says can be found in drugstores. I don't think it is as easy as just replacing the cigarettes. I agree with the above poster who said that psychosocial support is going to really be important for your success. Good luck and let us know how things are going

FH had tried to quit, but now he's back He told me last year he'd stop by New Years, but its not looking that way

i used to be a smoker. this was maybe a few years ago and i'm glad. i immediately see a difference! how i did it was cold turkey - ahem.. i snuck 2 in right after i quit and the rest was history. since this method didn't help you tehn.. hmm... the company you keep... are they also smokers? if so, then i suggest you distance yourself from them. i'm not saying excommunicate tehm from your life but under this circumstance it is they who should understand and support you- including your FI. one good thing is teh city's eliminated smoking from bars and restaurants.
