I need to vent

I need to vent

I just need to get this off my chest, so thanks ahead of time for listening.

One of BMs, she's actually the only friend I'm having as a BM (MOH is my sister and the other BM is FSIL) lived in the city and just moved to Brooklyn. I haven't really asked her to do too much in regards to the wedding. A few weeks ago I invited her to come in to go to florists to see sample centerpieces - she couldn't because she needed to write a paper that she never wound up writing.

Anyway, our fittings are in 2 weeks and she knew about them when I made the appt, 1 1/2 months ago. She left me a vm last night asking about the fitting schedule (we're all going together and wanted to know who was going first) This morning she IMs me telling me that she needs to be back in the city at 12:30 and asked if she could go first, at 11. I tell her I guess, but I doubt that she will be back in the city at 12:30 (fitting is in Massapequa).

I don't know, maybe I'm taking it the wrong way, but she knew about this a long time ago and I feel she is only wanting to spend limited time. I mean it's like she won't even see me in my dress when I go to get fitted. Even when we went BM dress shopping, the first time she couldn't come, and the second time, she again had limited time because she had something else to do in the city, which she didn't necessarily NEED to do. This time I understand, it's her mom's birthday, and she needs to be there to go for lunch, which I understand, but I think there are ways around it.

I just needed to share this with someone right now. Do you think I'm being selfish? I just feel she's doing little if not nothing. Since my shower is a surprise, and they are trying to not tell me too much, I don't even know if she's helping out at all.

Oh and I don't know if any of you remember, but she's the one going away for 3 weekends in September, limiting the dates available for my bachlorette party...

Thanks for listening...!

Re: I need to vent

It sounds to me that your BM is the one being selfish. I mean, I understand that she has her own life, but under the BM 'contract' (), one is to be as available as much possible for the bride (to cause her less stress)... and it seems she signed that contract, half-a$$ed.

I feel bad for you, but my only advice is to either accept her as she is, replace her, or just cut her out. The bright side? She's not a BM from Hell like Suven had: BM from HELL!!!.

Good luck!

hmmm, if this time she needs to leave for her mom's birthday, I think that should be let go. Other than that, I don't know her situation. She obviously has other obligations that are taking her away from the wedding planning. Have you tried talking to her about it?
