I need to vent

I'm so stressed out between planning this wedding, and finding a place to live. We really want to wait 6 months then TTC. So we would both like to have a house or co-op that has the room. We've looked at many one bedroom co-ops the past few months and FI really liked one, but to me it makes no sense to go into a one bedroom. I'm so confused. I never realized how stressful house hunting was going to be. We are both from queens and we are looking in mid nassau. Prices are high and taxes are ridiculous! I'm sick of hearing people say 'it's a buyers market. You can find a house for cheap' No you cannot! People are not giving their houses away. We even checked out foreclosures and one house was $550. The people weren't even willing to work with us.

Can anyone recommend some areas in Nassau that they like? Not looking to go to the South Shore sorry. FI wants to stay North. We checked out Williston Park, Carle Place, Mineola, Roslyn and New Hyde Park. Oh and Douglaston (Queens..but that was a joke )

well...i hear ya about the house thing and thats why we are waiting a bit....paying for a wedding on our own and buying a house at the same time wasnt happening. i cant really be of much help though because we are currently living in seaford and plan to buy around there...i love the south shore...between merrick, bellmore and seaford...those were our top picks. renting in seaford has given us the opportunity to check out a neigborhood that we want to live in before buying...has been a great help so far. we just dont want to jump in too fast. we have a 1 br and want to ttc asap... of course ideally we'd want a house first but honestly....i am not going to put my dreams of being a mother on hold because i cant affor my dream home yet. Everything happens for a reason..... My only suggestion is to follow the school systems....sorry i cant help much but I prefer the south shore myself...good luck!

I totally feel your pain. FH and I have been house hunting for 6 months and we can't find anything we like! It's crazy. As far as North Shore areas, check out Albertson, East Williston, Roslyn....
