i NEED to vent

i NEED to vent

so i get home last night around 7 and theres music and loud people next door...im like whatevs it cant last that long. Around 9 FH comes home and it starts to get louder. He HATES loud noises that come from anywhere other than his guitars. So he starts complaining to me. So i say 'well its only 9...this is the first time we've heard a peep out of them since we moved here in may..lets go into the bedroom and watch a movie'

So we go...start watching a movie and end up falling asleep. I get woken up at 1am by clapping, stomping on the floor and some weird mexican cowboy sounding music. I could have sworn the people next door to me were asian but thats neither here nor there.
So it just doesnt stop...its constant. and gets louder and louder...so i go up against the wall and scream 'SHUT THE F*CK UP OR IM CALLING THE COPS ON YOU PIECES OF SH*T.!' kinda foul right? Well at this point its 2:30am...i cannot be held acountable for what comes out of my mouth at this time of the morning.
So they start to BOO me.
So FH comes out and im almost in tears holding a wooden louisville slugger because all i want to smash some heads and go to sleep. He takes the bat out of my hand and hands me EAR PLUGS.

OH HELL NO...ear plugs? what is this? So i tell him how they boo'ed me and he just said 'well what am i supposed to do?' well maybe go over there and say something?? im in my underwear with a baseball bat smashing on the mind spewing out random cursewords and unable to form normal sentences.

Needless to say he didnt go there and i ended up calling the cops. Who knows if they actually showed up. I put my earplugs in and went to sleep shortly after the phone call and an episode of international house hunters. Did you know you could get a beautiful apartment in buenos aires for only 150k??? madness!

I am also calling the landlord today to make sure he knows about this. I think the people who lived in there before moved out on the new year and these animals moved in. Who BLASTS music and dances around on wood floors screaming at 2am???

That stinks . The only other people that do that are my downstairs neighbors.. I know how you feel... call the landlord.. this needs to be rectified...

I'm so sorry! Maybe if you go over there with the bat they will listen to you the cowboy music is a little curious. dont u feel like no matter where u move, the WEIRDEST people on the planet magically move in next to you?

I think I'd be kind of mad at FH for not going over there and being all FH-ish. As a total aside, international house hunters is the most fun if you watch the french people spend 1 million on a place the size of my apartment and... who boo's people? seriously?

I would call the landlord and complain. I cannot believe they actually treated you that way when you asked them to be quiet...isn't it funny how we end up dealing with rude noisy neighbors while the FH shruggs and goes to sleep.

If it makes you feel any better my landlords let their 4 yr old play the drums starting at 7AM on the weekends

i believe its a nassau county law that all loud music/noises have to end at 11pm.....next time call early, and call multiple times if need be

OMG! I would def. kill someone. We live in my Mom's house right now, so if our naighbors blast music we usually don't hear it. But there was quite a few times over the summer that they had a live band playing OUTSIDE all freaking night!!! After it kept up too long...FH finally went over there ... I don't know what he did or said, but the music never went past 11pm again! HAHA. I would either say something to your neighbors, or just complain about them. That's just not right no matter what way you look at it.

i hear you... i'm sorry it sounds like you had a rough night!!!
i have to say though, if they are normally quiet and they were loud this one time, i just think from personal experience that everyone has a reason to party and be loud one night out of the 365 days of the year. i had a big graduation party for earning my masters degree and as a courtesy sent a letter around to my neighbors apologizing in advance- we were up making noise until 4am! if i were you i wouldn't create problems with them- one day you may want to throw a party... if you have to be their neighbor for awhile, i would talk to them and resolve it... JMO- not trying to sound mean!

Oh the joy of apartment living in Queens
I think its good you called the cops and landlord. I think in NYC technically you have till 11pm and then the noise has to stop. SO sorry you had to go through this!
And ps I live for international house hunters too

yea i totally agree with you...but i actually went over there this afternoon when i was a bit more level headed to talk to them about this and the guy was obnoxiously rude. He said 'im paying rent too and i should be able to do what i want.'
ummmm no.... you see theres these things called laws. So i told him that if it happens again i will be calling the cops at 11:01 pm and will do so until theres enough reason for the landlord to kick him out.

That stinks. Good thing you eventually called the cops! People should have respect for their neighbors.

IT HAPPENED AGAIN LAST NIGHT!!

except this time i fell asleep around 1 am and it was quiet....they STARTED playing music and yelling and i think line-dancing @ 3AM people!

this time FH called the cops....we heard them come and talk to them and then @ 5am IT STARTED AGAIN. holy sh*t. I dont even have words.

I will however be having a talk with my landlord tomorrow. I left 2 voicemails for him but i know their management office isnt open on weekends.

They are probably doing it at this point to spite you. That really s*cks and is very rude. I say go over with the baseball bat!

Re: i NEED to vent

Obviously, the cops aren't doing anything. Makes me wonder (and I feel gross for even saying this) if there is more than one set of people/family living there. Seriously, who does that?

I know that the 11 pm rule is on the books for Freeport, especially on the Nautical Mile. I have a friend whose band plays down there during the summer, and they have to start at 7 pm because they have to get done much earlier.

Re: i NEED to vent

Oh, and when I lived in a basement apartment in Bellmore, towards the end of my second year there, I would often hear my landlord screaming at his oldest son (who was FOUR) and wife. FH thought I should call the cops a couple of times because of what he heard during a couple of nights. . .but I never did because I was afraid I would be evicted. Naturally, at the end of the second year of my lease, I got the hell out of there and into my FH's apartment.
It ***** when you live adjacent to inconsiderate people.

They can do whatever to spite me all they want. We just realized we have a friend in our precinct that works nights and this is about to get really good.
I know tenant rules over landlord 99% of the time but that will not stop me from making their lives a living hell.

On a side note....because of this i will probably break my lease and move because i doubt i will be able to actually get them evicted.

Does anyone know of any dog friendly apartment openings in the western nassau area?
