I Need to Vent - I am sad

Original post by mrswask

I know I have posted about this before - but i am really upset about my dress and veil. I just picked up the veil at Barron's and it is so plain and ugly - Bridal Reflections told me to get a very plain one so it didn't take away from the detail on the dress - but I just feel so plain and ugly in everything. I do not have my dream wedding dress and I am just so down. FH told me to go shopping for a new dress - but at 12 weeks before my wedding - i just can't mentally and emotionally do it. I don't know what to do. I wanted this light, airy summery tulle wedding dress and FH hates tulle so I didn't do it and I am just miserable now.Wedding Dress

I am attaching link of me in my dress for those who didn't see - it is a beautiful dress - but I don't feel good in it and I don't feel like it is this light beautiful summery dress. Just very down...

MrsWask you are a knockout in that dress!! I love it, and you are gorgeous in it! But of course YOU need to be happy, I understand what you are going thru. Like many of the other ladies said, once the entire 'look' is pulled together, you will look like the picture perfect bride. Sometimes (like it was for me) its not instantaneous that you look and say 'wow' to yourself.. it doesn't work that way for all of us! But believe the LIWs girls -- you look just amazing!

Im wearing my kind of heavy Maggie dress in the dead of summer also , and I've had my share of doubts ever since i ordered it .. but I know that once I see myself with hair done/makeup, dress, tiara, etc.. I'll be happier.

Good luck! And don't doubt for a second you are anything less than stunning!

Let's do one in Manhattan. I know we talked about doing one next week or the week after.

I think you look great in your dress

As for the veil IMO a plain veil is always the best way to go- simple & classic but if you really want something on the veil you can ask the seamstress to put some rhinestones in it.

you look beautiful in it... what about pairing it up with a veil with a ribbon edge?

I think you look beautiful.. I think your dress is beautiful!!! Once you put on your make up and your hair is done, it will all come together!!!! But if YOU are NOT happy then go try on some more dresses, go get your hair and make up trial and go to the place and try on your dress again!!! GOOD LUCK

You look beautiful and the dress is very elegant. You will look just as beautiful on the day of your wedding. I understand how you feel. I haven't seen my dress in over ten months and I'm scared that I will regret my decision. As I say to myself, I say to you, don't be sad, You could be wearing a sack that day and you will still look gorgeous.

I wouldnt change a thing. You look beautiful n your dress. I really mean it too. It makes your waist look sooo small (perfect really)

I'm sorry you don't like your dress!

HOWEVER, you look absolutely AMAZING in it! You have a perfect hour-glass figure!
Va-va-voom!

You may be able to buy something off the rack with 12 weeks to go. You need to be happy, so even though you look great you should change the dress if you want to.

Good Luck!!!

ETA: Also, BRIDALFASHIONMALL.COM has some nice, inexpensive embroidered veils. Maybe take a look at one of those.

I just looked at the pic - you look soooooo pretty!!! But you have to do what feels right. I made the mistake of wearing my veil pinned in the back and when i got my pics back - i wished i had pinned it on top. And I regret it to this day.

good luck

Michal I think you look great. Try on your veil, shoes, headpiece, etc all together and see how it looks. You can always have Barron's add some crystals or edging to the veil if you like. If you are really that unhappy with the dress, look around a little. There are some sample sales and dresses you can buy off the rack if necessary (I know I couldn't find my dress at Carmela's in Huntington Station because she sold it to a bride that needed it right away). You will be a beautiful bride no matter what dress or veil you wear - you'll see.

Excuse me?!! You are gorgeous and that dress on you is amazing!! It is THE dress! I mean, I am sure you would look beautiful in anything you wore b/c you are gorgeous but seriously you look fantastic!

Like the other girls said, just try to imagine it when you have your hair and makeup done, and maybe look for another veil. But honestly you look just fabulous. I wouldn't change a thing.

I think you look beautiful in your dress! I think it looks summery. I was expecting some horrible looking dress, but it's gorgeous.

If you yourself are not happy with it, then still look around if you want. I think it's a beautiful dress, but there's no harm in looking if you're not happy. But even if you don't find anything, you'll definitely still look gorgeous in that dress.

Personally- and this is JMO I'm not telling youi how to feel in your own wedding gown - BUT I think your gown IS summery and light looking - not to mention extremely classy and elegant ! -(you have to be careful w/ tule - on some people it's gorgeous- my cousin looked like a horriffic ballerina !! ) I think you will look absolutely beautiful !! - you also have to keep in mind that your're not seeing the full effect of you hair and makeup and haedpiece -
Why don't you try to sched a hair/makeup tril on the same day of your next fitting ?? -

The dress looks pretty on you! If you want to change the veil or dress it up a bit, go right ahead but don't worry about the dress!

I think you look amazing and you are going to be a stunning bride. BUT, if you are THAT unhappy... there is nothing wrong with taking a quick run over to David's Bridal and trying on a couple of gowns. You'll probably remember why you loved the gown you picked in the first place. AND, I see nothing wrong with having a slighty dressed up veil with that gown. If you can, get some beading or scattered pearls on the veil -- it will not take away from the beautiful dress. But, a plain veil will also be VERY elegant looking!

Although you look georgeous, if your truley not happy with it then start looking online at dresses, you would have to rush the dress you picked in order to have the alterations done in time, but do what makes you happy!

Don't be sad! You look absolutely stunning and beautiful in that dress!!!! And, like the other girls said... once you do your hair, makeup, have your flowers in your hand, you will be even more gorgeous... I'm jealous!!!!
