I Need to Vent - I am sad

Original post by mrswask

I know I have posted about this before - but i am really upset about my dress and veil. I just picked up the veil at Barron's and it is so plain and ugly - Bridal Reflections told me to get a very plain one so it didn't take away from the detail on the dress - but I just feel so plain and ugly in everything. I do not have my dream wedding dress and I am just so down. FH told me to go shopping for a new dress - but at 12 weeks before my wedding - i just can't mentally and emotionally do it. I don't know what to do. I wanted this light, airy summery tulle wedding dress and FH hates tulle so I didn't do it and I am just miserable now.Wedding Dress

I am attaching link of me in my dress for those who didn't see - it is a beautiful dress - but I don't feel good in it and I don't feel like it is this light beautiful summery dress. Just very down...

Honestly, it's a beautiful dress. You look stunning and on the day of your wedding, with the whole package, it will be fantastic. However, I agree with the idea that maybe you should look for fun. It's your day. You have to like it. But ... read some of these posts over and over and perhaps you will see what we do.

I have to tell you...You look simply beautiful in the dress.

I went through a period where I did not feel good about my dress. I kept looking at the pictures from when I first tried it on and I thought it looked awful. It wasn't until i went back for my final fitting(three days before my wedding) that I remembered why I picked that dress.

This is a common feeling and I think that once you go back for your fitting, you will feel quite differently.

I think the dress looks gorgeous on you- actually, my FSIL is going to be wearing the same dress in a few months-- Maggie Sottero right?

Don't feel down- you will look beauitful! I hope you cheer up!

I haven't been on in a while, and I certainly didn't want to come back to see that you're sad! The other ladies are right, you look great!! We're our own worst critic anyway. On the big day when you have your make-up and hair done with your headpiece and veil and shoes and jewelry, and the sun reflecting off the gorgeous beading you're going to look and feel like a princess!!!!!

OMG!!! You look GORGEOUS!!! Are you kidding me?! The dress is beautiful and you look incredible in it. If anything, do something to your veil if you don't like it...add something to it, or just get a new one. But, I'd wait until you see the whole package together before making any alternative decisions! You're beautiful!

Hi, just wanted to add that I also think you look really beautiful in that dress! I personally think it looks really summery, strapless, etc... - you can always get a new veil if you REALLY feel strongly about the other one being too plain - but I think a plain one will look very elegant with that dress..... remember just because a dress is simple, that doesn't mean it's necessarily plain - sometimes less is more! :)
Cheer up!!

Are you kidding? You look amazing in that dress... it's so flattering to your body! Just wait until you have the dress, the shoes, veil, makeup, etc... when everything is done, it will look absolutely amazing

I think you look gorgeous. I agree with getting the plain veil. But if you want a different veil by all means get one. What does your headpiece looklike? FM me if you want to talk.

I think the dress looks perfect on you. I am sorry to hear you are so unhappy. I think it fits you so nice.

I mentioned this before, I LOVE THAT DRESS and almost bought it myself. I think that the elegance comes from the fact that it is plain and simple. I'm not into too much beads and lace and all that, I like plain and simple!!

I think that is one of the most gorgeous dresses I have seen yet. I love the sparkle and I absolutely love the back. Maybe you should keep the veil but what if you added to it, like some scattered crystals. As far as the woman from the salon telling you to keep it plain, I know that they have good intentions but you really have to do what you want.
But if you are really that unhappy then maybe you should just browse around for another dress, maybe you will find something else. Or like I said maybe just a different veil will make you fell better.
Anyway I honestly think you look great but you have to be happy with it!!

OMG you are crazy girl. What a sexpot! That dress looks hot on you. I would keep it if I were you. I actually prefer plain veils. IMO keep it all.

Aww, I really like it. I havent been able to read through all the posts, but you do look fabulous! Maybe you should get your hair and makeup done and try it on again - you may feel differently once you see the finished package. Or just take one day to go to an off-the-rack store ...maybe something will surprise you

you look beautiful in your dress!
I actually felt similar - i got a similar heavy Maggie satin dress for my June wedding (angelina). But had thought originally i would get something lighter also. But i'm happy with it, and heck, the hall has A/C. I just got over it, and went on to other things..

I think its a great dress. the other girls had a some good suggestions to settle your 'buyer's remorse'.. you will look lovely!

I think you look beautiful in your dress...
but picture it like this: add a beautiful necklace, your makeup will be on, your hair will be done,
all that will make you see what all of us are already seeing... cheer up

You look gorgeous in your dress! But I understand how you feel (I am going through the same thing)

Just remember why you picked the dress. If you want, change the veil. Go try the dress on when your hair and makeup are done- that will also change your perspective.

If all else fails, hit craigslist, ebay and sample sales if you really want a new dress. But I don't think you need one at all. You look just stunning!
