well not really.. FH does.

but he was talking about single and double breasted and i was like.. w-t-f- does that mean?
he told me not to worry my pretty little head about the manly stuff.

(but we all know how involved he got with my shoes and DOJ, so I want to totally bug him about tux stuff... so educate me please)

double breasted is when there are two colums of buttons and the two sides overlap.

honestly, it depends the guy on which looks best. and since FH will be the star of all the photos, it should be based on what looks best on him.

i know DH looks better in 2 button suits, rather than 3-4 buttons

i forgot what he wore at the wedding (whoops!), but we went to tux shop together to make sure he looked great

I'm totally happy to help you out with this as much as you need.

He mentioned single and double-breasted, which is a good start. Here are some pictures of the four basic styles of tux:

Single Breasted Peak Lapel

Single Breasted Shawl Lapel

Double Breasted Peak Lapel

Double Breasted Shawl Lapel

Just by way of information, double breasted jackets are considered a bit less formal than single breasted, and have less room for error in terms of fit. They are also harder to find. Therefore, if you have some overweight guys, I would suggest SB.

Shawl vs. peak is your preference. Peak looks more formal, and on most guy I think it looks a bit sharper, but shawl can look equally as nice. Ideally you'd pair a cummerbund with the shawl lapel jacket and a low-cut vest with the peak lapel, but it's not a hard and fast rule.

One other thing I should mention: no waist covering is required with a double-breasted jacket, so if you dont like the look of a vest or cummerbund, that is a good option.

Feel free to ask me any other questions. Also, this is a great source:

Honestly, I have no idea abotu double breasted or any of that crap. I just pointed to the one I liked and said 'That one.' and DH agreed. It was a Calvin Klein tux from Men's Wearhouse.

Don't mind DH getting low fives from all the GMs as we get in the partybus.
