First I saw that someone wrote that my other posts were in 2004 and they are correct and that is part of my problem.
I'll start from the beginning and try to make it brief.
I am 40 years old. I married young and was married for 10 years. We had a wedding with about 150 guests. In 2004 I got married for the 2nd time - 10 months after being married by husband had a stroke.
I recently became engaged and it is my fiances 2nd marriage he has two girls and I have two boys. He did not have a big wedding for his first marriage and really want to have a party. I on the other hand am really embarassed to have a 3rd wedding and would like something very lowkey. Last night we created a list - he is the youngest of 8 - so just with his immedate family and their spouses and a few children it came to 29 and with my immediate family it is 25.
So my first issue is the 3rd wedding and my second issue is that I would like to invite two cousins and I ran it by my brother and his wife and they feel that it would create problems inviting certain cousins and not others. I am so confused I really dont know what to do.
I would appreciate anyone's input. Thank you.

Have a party with immediate family, you have a right to celebrate! As for inviting, two cousins... unless you guys are super tight and the whole family knows it, go for it... otherwise, I wouldn't want to cause problems...

I think if you have closer relationships with certain cousins and not with others its okay to invite your closest family, if you find you spend the same amount of time with the cousins your including and excluding feelings will be hurt but otherwise i think its okay to tell people you just wanted a small wedding. And i think its okay to have a 3rd wedding as long as it is tasteful which i believe by the sound of the smaller guest list, it will be. good luck to you

I'm sorry that you have to go through this - try westbury manor - they have a smaller room upstairs that fits up to 75 ppl I believe.

Congrats to you and FH. Firstly, don't worry about the # of weddings. Life takes strange paths some times and it's our job to continue living and enjoying all that comes our way so once again...celebrate!
As for the cousin, I agree with some of the other ladies, if you're close and everyone knows, it shouldn't cause too many issues. We did this with fh's cousin who he grew up so close with. We asked him to be a gm so he was part of the ceremony. No one could argue with that.
We're also looking for a small place and they are out there although we haven't picked one yet...sorry to be no help in that category, but I will mention Honu in Huntington. They'll give you the whole place before 5 or 6 on the weekends and it's gorgous!

Thank you all for your help - it made me feel much better.
So much changes in a day - we are now thinking of doing something at the East Wind they said they have two smaller rooms and since I am looking for 6/23/11 (which is a Thursday). (I want to be married on my parents anniversary - my mom passed away three years ago) unless we wait 2 1/2 years for a Friday!!! Also it being on a Thursday will 'weed out' people that I am being told I am obligated to invite
So we will make an appt to check it out.

Russo's on the Bay has a small room, and their offshoot a few blocks away Vetro also does small parties.
A great restaurant that family members have had events is called Punta Dura in Astoria. They have a dance floor, and a big room. The Sopranos actually used to film lots of restaurant scenes there.
