I need urgent help!!

What do you do when you've got 150 people on your final version guest list, and money to pay for only 125??!!

I was really hoping to be able to let my single girlfriends bring 'guests' but the truth is, I can't afford to do it. This is soooo frustrating!! Also, we have revised the list over and over again and can't get under this 150 without stepping on some really sensitive family and friend toes. What in the world do we do (besides hit Lotto?!)

HELP!!!

i would just to explain to your friends that dont have serious relationships that you cant afford to invite them with a date must people will understand. i would do that for family as well if they dont have a serious relationship tell them you cant afford to have them bring a date but you really want them there. you can also b list people and see if anyone sends in a decline then you invite a few more

Thanks, Randy. I really am trying to factor this in. The thing that makes me nervous though is the scenario that EVERYONE does come (weddings don't happen often in my circle and so people might think it's a total gas and want to come). Yikes!!

Well- there are always people who can;t make it for whatever reason.. I mean, I pray to god not everyone shows up-- we are inviting like 270 and are budgeting for 210!

Seriously though-- that is like an industry standard number.. Maybe you should have an A and B list-- otherwise you may be under your minimum.

From a bride who got married....

There are going to be people who say no to you wedding....and 25 is a decent number to go with.

Also, i have gone to many weddings where brides do not invite single guests with a date (don't do that to people who date people...i have seen that happen too and its bad).

I also had A LOT of people who did not bring guests so you should calculate that too....how many other single family/friends might you be inviting htat might come solo...

I think you are okay going 25 over....

Thanks everybody. I think those who are in serious relationships will get 'and guest.' Other than that, I just can't really afford to invite extra people, though it is my sincerest desire that I could invite absolutely everybody...including my LIW pals!

We are only inviting our friends/family in serious relationships to bring a guest. We are trying to keep our guest list to a minimum. Frankly I don't care to have any of my single friends 'flavors of the week' at my wedding!

We only invited people with SO with dates and we did have about 15% or so not come for whateer reasons. We invited aout 240 and I think we had 185.

Just an FYI - I had a friend who is from a big irish family (and had so many people to invite) and they invited everyone solo except those married or engaged...it causes hugh issues with people dating people so don't in anyway exclude those people.....I think you can exclude people who are just beggining to date or who are single....

Thanks. I appreciate the feedback. Now I just have to decide what is considered a 'significant other' if the couple is only dating. Dating 6 months? A year? Decisions decisions!

I am inviting 195 and originally thought I would have 125 but I would be okay with 150. Do you think I will be okay?

Its tough to decide but in my mind if you met the guy/girl then they are 'dating'. If they are dating more then three months, then they are dating.....

The issue will come with people you are inviting who you have not seen for awhile and have no clue what is goign on in there love life....

Fortunately I don't have anyone like that one my list. No one who I haven't seen in a while is invited. Meaning, people I haven't been in contact with for over a year or more.

You're right in the range to have 125 if you invite 150!!!! It's not possible that everyone will come!!!!!!!!

Alco, are there 25 people you can put on a B list, so that you can be able to invite some of the people close to you with guests?

Thanks! This makes me feel so much better. Big 'Duh' on my part! The 'B' list!! I didn't even mention to FI that he should 'B' list some people. I guess this might work out after all.
