I know most people hate to do this but how about A & B lists. You will have people who can't make it so as they start to decline the invite send invites out one at time. But so that you don't hurt anyones feeling by being on a B list try to send your original invites out earlier then usual so that the B list doesn't get invited last minute. Also send B invites out to people who aren't going to talk to the A list. Have your response time earlier too for the A list. I don't know, I hope this makes sense. I've been there with parties and been scared everyone would reply yes.

don't do an A list and a B list, it gets sneaky and difficult and you don't want to offend people, or have to make up excuses and lies. Invite the 150, some won't be able to come, some will come alone rather than bring a date....and you will find the money to pay for the extra people...everything will fall into place...you are only going to have this wedding once-invite the 150 that you settled on....

I would invite them anyway. We only had money for 150 and we had to invite 170 (we took the chance) and a lot of people said no. So, we ended up having 149 , so it worked out like we had hope. A lot of people say no, usually 20 people or a little more, from what I am told and from the responses that I got, so you might be able to like we did. Also, we invited a lot of single people with a date and five of them said that they were coming by themselves.

We are only inviting our friends/family in serious relationships to bring a guest. We are trying to keep our guest list to a minimum. Frankly I don't care to have any of my single friends 'flavors of the week' at my wedding!

I think I'm inviting close to 200, but I'm lucky if I get the minimum 125 that I need. Alot of my FH's family is in Italy and they won't come, not that I'd expect them to.
