We are having a pretty big wedding 200 people (inviting) at a really nice venue and we have awesome vendors and everything is coming together so nicely. The problem is that sometimes I think that I want it this way, the way I always dreamed and sometimes I think that it is so much for 1 day! Sometimes I think all I want is having a nice dinner and dancing at a nice restaurant with 50 of my closest family and friends. All I know is that I want a ceremony and to wear a dress (which i have and love) I am stuck in a rut and I don't know what to do. I go back and forth and its driving my FI mad! Please help! I value your opinions

I really feel you on this. I personally would love to have a small intimate ceremony and reception sometime this year instead of dragging this whole production out for over a year and laying out thousands of dollars for ONE day.
No matter what you do, at the end of the day youll be married and thats all that really matters....
However, my friends and family(especially MOM) would be devastated if we didnt have a big traditional wedding...
Blah blah blah....its a tough call

I know what you mean! I think my mom would be so sad if I didn't do it this way since my sister is getting married on a beach! She always wanted one daughter to do it the 'right way', but I am so confused!

I totally feel your pain- I am having alot of the same confusion. I say, just go with it!! Everything will be fabulous in the end!!
And don't worry- we all go through these bouts of indecision and second-guessing!!

I know how you feel, I have had these very thoughts myself. But when it comes down to it, I do want the big wedding - I want to be the princess for the day (selfish, I know). My parents had a very small wedding at a friend's house, and are very happily married. However, my mom always tells me that she regrets not doing the whole 'wedding' thing.

I feel your pain, especially when confronted with the housing situation.....taking a huge chunk of money that could be spent on a home is tough....
but I do want a traditional wedding... basically I have been trying to compromise...setting a total amount and then figuring what is worth more to me.
I am willing to forgo the thousands spent on flowers to invite a few more people and DIY projects for invitations and such can save a lot too. You CAN tone it down and lower your costs....maybe cutting your guest list just a little will ease your mind (mine is abut 140)
no matter what you decide, it will be great. b/c you are marrying your man!
