Alot of our family is not going including my Nana which really hurts me

So now I am thinking about going to look at places in NJ on the water

So I need help
I have a budget and I need to know if it is possible to pull this off with a certain amount of money ....(around 35K)

My orginal wedding in SI was 30k just for the hall! so I could use all the suggestions possible

you can totally pull it off. When is your wedding?
Look for places by the water that will allow you to have a day wedding. Or a Sunday wedding or Friday night. This will cut your costs big time

I really want to keep my date which is May 17 and I also really want it by the water ...so I have to start looking because I have no clue where to go

I'm sorry the Aruba thing didn't work out.

We thought of one too, but decided not to.

I think people see at as an inconvenience, but I know a lot who've done it and had an enormous turn out. It really depends on your guests. I think a DW is beautiful and romantic

So remember do what you want not what everyone else is telling you.

Danfords on the sound
Russo's
Chateau L.....
swan club (it's no by the water, but they do have a lake and beautiful garden)

Definitely don't waste any time getting out there though if you want to keep your date since may is such a popular month.

I think you mentioned NJ. One of my friends got married at Ocean Place in Long Branch. The prices are a little high, but she ended up doing a buffet style reception and it worked out to be in her budget. The food was plentiful and very good.
So thats an option. The place was absolutely beatiful. It was also on eof the only places she could find that would let her do her ceremony right on the beach (although it ended up raining that day which was a bummer)

I also looked at a bunch of places in NJ, I dont think any were on the water but there were some really nice places at affordable prices!

On a set budget, you could defintely do $35,000. I know many people that had weddings for less, and they were as beautiful as any other wedding. I am not a fan of destination weddings...I think that a bride and groom do not have the right to get mad at people who do not go. It's a major imposition on people to take off from work, pay for airfare and hotel and then give a gift. I would never attend a destination wedding, unless FH and I were planning a trip and could make that our trip.

I do, however, like the idea of getting married and doing a second wedding in the Caribbean..just the two of you....soley for the purpose of pictures. I think Caribbean beach pics are amazing wedding pics...Nicole, how pretty are your sister's pics, right? BUT, it's not fair to family and friends at all!

Also, someone on here got married in NYC at the Marriott East Side - her photos are amazing! I'll find out who her photog was and let you know...

ETA: Found her, here's her review, and her photog was Roberto Falck... Look into him!

I'm going to a reception in Jersey on July 21st. I don't remember the name of the place off hand but when I get home I'll check and let you know where it is.

btw you can DEFINITELY do it on $35k. Our budget is $40k and we are able to do it without having to really skimp anywhere. We got all the vendors we wanted and were even able really splurge on photo/video.

Don't worry even though it's not LI we're still here to help you!

editing because your budget isn't $353K.

Kristina- I totally agree, my sisters pics are gorgeous, but its such an inconvience for guests,
i dont get why people need to go so far to get married, I really love the idea of vow renewals on a beach in the carribean for pics, that is such a great idea!!!!
