I NEED YOUR INPUT!

I NEED YOUR INPUT!

We're meeting with a DJ tomorrow and I want to be prepared.

I want music for my ceremony, cocktail hour and reception.

What questions should I ask?

Many thanks in advance!

ask him his style, ask to see some video footage, ask for references, does he take requests from guests? will he request a list of to play or a do not play list from you? is there an assistant that comes with him? (I have a DJ and ass't-you have to feed them!!)

Well I don't know who you're going to see..

but I asked about their policies of allowing requests (I want none) and

give aways (I want none) and

how they choose their music (i don't think I want to put together the whole night)

I asked if he had ideas for the ceremony and the cocktail hour (since no one dances)

also I knew the music I wanted for the
ceremony and HAD to make sure he had it.

Asked his musical history (mine was in a band before and did tons of weddings) and

how long he'd been a DJ (again mine passed this one easy)

Has he been to my hall?

What is his part in my day other than just the guy behind the box? (mine is like a second M'D)

How many people does he have (assistants and such) afterall we have to feed them.

How many events does he do on one night (mine only does one at a time)

Mine is also the sole owner so it's not a question I had to ask, but you may want to know who the DJ will be for your night and select an alternate just in case.

There's an idea of the meeting I had. Other stuff just sorta surfaced while I was there.

ETA: We got a CD filled with sample music to help us pick out songs for each part of party (cake cutting, first dance, father/daughter, processional, recessional, etc) Mine also gave us online access to add, change and delete our list as we choose to.

Good Luck!

OH YEAH, and the lighting package.. does the DJ have one, what are the options and differences.
