I need your opinions

I've been looking for a job for a few weeks, I've gone on a couple of interviews so far but nothing too good. I got a call today from what seemed to be the perfect position for me, I called the place and the guy seemed like a total jerk, he was just asking me wierd questions, the job is a secretary position and he wants my college transcript and a term paper I wrote so he can see how I write, then he asked me if I wanted to tell him anything personal about myself, he made me uncomfortable but I scheduled an interview with him. Now I'm wondering if I should even bother going, I was practically shaking when I got off the phone with him, he was so cold and wierd.

Would you go on the interview or cancel?

ETA: when he asked about something personal i said well i'm getting married in June, hes like well where are you going to live and i mentioned where and then he said ok, anything else you want to tell me? I was like umm no thats it for now

If the job sounded perfect (not the guy) and you think you can handle him again, then I would go to the interview.. Maybe he was just having an off day, or he is not comfortable on the phone. In the event that he is a jerk and that he makes you feel uncomfortable again when you are there then just excuse yourself and leave. Tell him you realize this is not for you and you dont want to waste anymore of his time. At that point you will know you dont want the job anyhow....

however, if you feel REALLY creeped out and know you don't want to be around this guy then cancel.

I would go to the interview, but if your not comfortable DO NOT take the job. Your gut won't ever lie.. Let us know how it turns out

I think it depends on where it is and the situation. Is it in a small building or a big office building, will there be other people around. I had a job interview and found out it was in a private house, so I cancelled. But if you really feel uncomfortable don't go. The last thing you want is a boss who makes you feel that way. I've been there, its not good.

I googled the name and nothing comes up so it's pretty wierd. supposedly its a one person office and he needs a secretary....the more I think about it, the wierder it seems...i also got the job posting from craigs list so theres no info at all.

first of all, that's completely unethical that he is asking you personal questions on a 'phone interview.' those questions have NOTHING at all to do with your experience or your abilities... he has no right to ask you those questions, and truthfully, you don't have to answer them. if i were you i would tell him just that- 'i assure you that my personal life will not interfere with my ability to perform the responsibilities of this position.'

I was all excited about that job I mentioned until he e-mailed me the directions and it said walk in the house and go upstairs to the second floor. Of a house, I don't think so. I think that is the problem with Craigs List. You don't know what your getting, there is no screening.

If your uncomfortable don't go. There will be other jobs. Or at least make someone go with you and wait in the car.

But you will have to work alone with this guy so if you even have a hint of doubt, I say play it safe. I had an internship and one of the producers sketched me out a bit, but I had a shoot with him so I went with him in the car and he hit on me. I should have gone with my gut instinct.

i am a firm believer in the fact that if you get a bad feeling about someone or something, run!!!!!

but thats just me. go on the interview and if you are uncomfortable even in the slightest bit, get out of there.
