I am very sorry you are going through this.

I do think a biopsy on your face will leave a scar...but if you use vitamin e or mederma every day it will fade..i have a 10 inch scar on my back from surgery 2 months ago and it has already started to fade.

As for leaving work for health reasons (I am on disability) I feel your pain..i left work in February for my health and it makes me really sad sometimes esp since I really just started my career. But my FH put it to me this way-you will be working for 40+ years..right now a year or 6 months feels like a long time to be out of work but in the grand scheme of things it isnt.

Finally even if the biopsy is positive which is a worst case scenario treatment today is amazing..i am going through it now (starting today)and most types of cancer can be successfully treated esp for young otherwise healthy people

Sorry to hear you are going through difficult times. But as you said, your health comes first and foremost. Just know that you will get through it and 2010 will definitely be a better year. Hang in there.
