I no longer have a MOH (very long but worth it).

I no longer have a MOH (very long but worth it).

I called her to tell her all of the things that were bothering me.

Like......

1- When my shower was being planned, she was in the process of moving. At this time she got a new phone number and mentioned to one of my BM's not to give her new phone number to my mother because she was a 'pain in the ass' and didn't want to deal with her.

1- She couldn't look for a place to have the shower because she lived too far away (even though she is around at least once a month). She had no money to chip in (which is okay). It was then decided she would just be responsible for decorations. She called my BM the day before the shower and said she couldn't do it (she never got around to buying the decorations). So, not only did she have NOTHING to do with planning my shower but she was the last one to arrive (10 minutes before me) and the first one to leave (1/2 hour before it was even over). She also loudly proclaimed that my shower 'cost more than her wedding' for all to hear.

2- She showed up to the shower with no gift. Not even a card. She gave me a gift certificate that she chipped in with her sister for 1 month after the shower.

3- She has no interest at all in my wedding. I mean she doesn't even ask about it when we speak (which is hardly ever since the shower).

4- She lives about 3 hours away but has family who lives right near me. She comes in all of the time (at least once a month) and doesn't even call me to tell me she is in town (probably out of fear of having to do something wedding related).

I brought all of this up to her (and more). Basically her defense was that she lives far away and has a baby. When I explained that she managaes to find time to do things for herself and her sisters, she told me that I did nothing for her wedding. I told her she has 2 sisters and a mother who were VERY active in planning her shower and wedding. My mother lives in Florida and we are not so close. I have no sisters. Plus, I was not her MOH. She is supposed to be mine.

Long story short she wound up telling me-

'I am sorry that I am not all as privilaged as you to have a rich boyfried who supports me while I sit on my ass' and hung up.

First of all, I wish that I had the ability to sit on my ass. I work a 50 hour week. My boyfriend is not 'rich' ( I wish he was). This is just her being jealous because her husband is a loser. This just confirms what I have suspected all along. She is jealous of me and FH. So jealous she can hardly see straight. I called her back and her machine picked up. I told her a few choice words and told her not to bother showing up to my wedding. I also told her what I thought of her, her husband and her jealousy.

So that's it. It's over. Some friend, huh?

Tara,
so sorry. I am proud of you for eliminating negativity in your life. these things do not get better, they get worse. Now, when it is your day, you won't be thinking of what SHE didn't do ... you'll be focused on YOU & YOUR ADORABLE FH!!!

KUDOS to you, girl!

I am sorry you had to deal with that.

that wasnt nice of her at all. I think being MOH is beyond an honor and its something she should have taken seriously and with a big heart.

my matron lives in FL and i am in NY and even though there is a huge distance between us, she has been truely wonderful.

Verizon and the US postal service loves us.

Sorry you had to find out what a terrible friend she was when youshould be completely enjoying yourself but consider yourself lucky to have realized what a loser she is now instead of later.

I'm sorry you had to go through that. I had a similar experience with a 'best friend' and chose not to ask her to be in my wedding. I can sympathize with you. It does get easier - as time passes you'll realize you're better off without her.

I am so terribly sorry!!! That situation absolutely SUCKS!!! She sounds like a terrible person who is jealous , selfish and petty and could not even do the highest honor in your wedding- a compliment to her if you ask me!!! Not worth it- move on! Who will be your MOH now? Is there a bm that was awesome that can step up to the plate?

Bravo Tara. You did what you had to do - you had the courage to stand up to her and it sounds like you did it well. Your wedding is far too important of a day to let yourself be surrounded by negative people and their jealousies and insecurities. Good for you for taking care of yourself.

I am so sorry, best of luck finding someone who deserves such an honorable position.

Sorry to hear what happened. Jealousy is an ugly thing. I can't believe your friend would act like that less than 4 months before your wedding. Looks like your friend is too wrapped up in her self-pity than sharing in your happiness. What a shame!
You have us.

Better to see what kind of friend she is now, rather than later. Ask one of your real friends to stand up for you. It is hard to lose a friendship, no matter what the reason but sometimes people just grow apart and it is better to end the friendship then be 'fake' about it.

Amen to that Stef, taralissa, all you didn't need was to have to look at this ingrate's picture every time you look through your wedding album!

Sorry that this happened ... but you are better off her! She was the one who went to Las Vegas right before your shower, isn't she? Just forget about her, and be very happy, you deserve it!

good luck!

I am so sorry to hear that!!! What a horrible friend~ Consider yourself LUCKY to not have someone in your life that creates such negative feelings.

You deserve someone who WANTS to be a special part of your day....

I am sorry you had to go through that!
